Mrs Mary Thomson: Yes, that's expected.

BBC Two analogue is now off, permanently.

The high-power BBC digital service has started up, but it was allocated ITV1's analogue frequency, so ITV1 had to move to BBC Two's old location.

Therefore you will find ITV1 analogue on button 2 for the next two weeks.

On the 31st, the remaining analogue channels will be shut down, permanently. The high-power digital multiplexes will replace some of them - all services will move to a different frequency except for SDN, which moved in advance of switchover to get out of the way of transmissions from another site.

Thanks for the suggestion regarding the postcode. I've looked in my instruction book but can only find details concerning language and country choices. Did you input a postcode to your Sony TV?

I input a postcode to my Sony TV. It is only 2 years old.

If your TV is older - from the time when any extra channels were thought a bonus - you may only have the option of a full scan and then have to edit the channels found.

From Melton Mowbray your aerial will be pointing towards both Waltham and Belmont.

After the 31st August you could try fitting attenuators to your aerial to reduce the signal from Belmont to below the level your TV can detect. Until Waltham goes up to its post-DSO power level on 31st August you would probably find there is little practical difference between the signal levels from Belmont and Waltham.

Thanks for the advice. My Sony Bravia TV is about 4 years old. Unfortunately my TV aerial is on top of a converted Water Tower belonging to my neighbour.

I think I will have to put up with the inconvenience of manually retuning.

hi all has anyone else had to swing their aerial to make it pick up 1, 2, 80, 301 bbc channels? Only I'd like to know if it might cure my problem before I pay someone to go on my roof.I have a large digital aerial and its already been pin pointed at waltham twice in the past. Is the problem now that the new signal is too strong? and swinging it off station attenuates it a bit?I get channels 3,4,5,6,bla bla 81parliament,82 sky news etc all perfect. If I swing the arial will Ilose the other channels, Because even 1 degree to the right equates to several miles from waltham what's going on,or not in my case. regards Phill ps just scaned again no bbc's

phillip wigley: People often find that their systems are overloaded by the new high power transmissions. If you have an amplifier or booster in your system, you will have to remove it. If you don't, you may have to fit an attenuator to lower the signal level.

Thanks Briantist, I thought That might be It. Do you happen to know how big the attenuator needs to be? I hav'nt got any at the moment and Maplins is the only place still open if they have any, and they are 10 miles away. Can I put a resister in the signal wire only. If so what value do you surgest 1k, 10k,or is it experimaent time? I was An Arial rigger 20 years ago so I do Have some experience, and in electronics, but as you know things move on. kind regards Phill
