From Wikipedia: From its launch until the closure of ITV Digital it was available as a bonus subscription channel. It became part of the Top Up TV subscription scheme until 27 May 2005, when the channel became available on Freeview, with the potential to increase advertising revenue by attracting a larger audience. E4 was also available as part of the basic Sky satellite subscription channel package, due to a long term contract with BSkyB it only became free-to-air in 2008. - en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org link icon read more about E4 +1 on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

Re: dale
"Can we have more + channels"
Yes, but this will reduce your program choice.
Every +1 channel is replacing a channel, so why would you want them.
When BBC3 closes down and we get BBC1+1 you then then get the same programs on
BBC1 SD, BBC1 HD, BBC1+1 SD, BBC1+1 HD and at night the same program on BBC News SD and BBC News HD.
So one channel will replace 6 channels.
I can get ITV1 SD, ITV1 HD and ITV1+1 SD, but no ITV3, ITV4, cITV, ITV Be etc.

So I would like all +1 channels to close down and use a Video or DVD recorder if I want to watch repeats.
