The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the The Wrekin (Telford and Wrekin, England) mast?

TF13AF - Wrekin Transmitter - Every channel on C23 has been virtually unwatchable for weeks due to pixillating and sound distortions - today is absolutely worse than ever - please advise when will this problem be restored to a watchable service?

Robert Price: The post above yours warns of engineering work taking place at The Wrekin this week. Unfortunately they never say how long the work is due to last as it is dependent on weather conditions and other factors (engineers cannot climb up the transmitter mast in heavy rain or high winds etc).

Thank you StevensOnln1: I am fully aware of the post ahead of mine which, if you check back, is the same post that has been made by Transmitter Engineering regularly for many weeks and months - the problem has been getting progressively worse now rendering every channel on C23 virtually unwatchable - my question was when will it return to some sort of normality.

Robert Price:

The transmitter wasn't listed during the first two weeks of August, nor during early July. Before that it was the latter part of May early June. It would seem that a significant amount of work has been needed there otherwise it wouldn't have been listed as much in recent months.

However, that said, you are only 4km from the transmitter and should not be suffering any serious problems with reception whereas your post implies you've had continuous problems with the ITV/C4/Ch5 channels carried on the D3&4/PSB2 multiplex on UHF C23. Has it been continuous or has it just been periodically?
If continuous, I think this would point to some sort of local problem as if it were a transmitter issue there would be many posts complaining of the same issue.
If periodically, has there been any pattern to this, eg. specific times of day on a regular basis?

Are you having any problem with channels on the other multiplexes?

Can you look in your TV Tuning section, possibly Signal,Test (depends on your set make/model) and quote the Signal Strength and Quality (or Error) figures) for each UHF channel's multiplex, which are C26, C23, C30, C41, C44, C47.

Where is your aerial located? Has it been moved/disturbed? How old is it (roughly)? Is the downlead in good condition?
Is it a Group K aerial do you know? Have you got a free filter fitted as you may have mobile phone transmitter interference as you should have received a postcard from https://restoretv.uk/ according to their website?

Do you have any other equipment connected to your aerial - amp/splitters, recorders etc.? How are the connections routed? Do check that all coax connections are good, not loose or corroded etc.

Has anything appeared on the line of sight between your aerial and the transmitter, eg. buildings, scaffolding, have trees grown bigger, any solar panels installed etc.?

Chris.SE: Many thanks for the useful information you have provided. I get absolutely no problems at all with anything other than the channels carried on C23 - everything else is absolutely fine. The problem does seem to recede at weekends. My aerial is in my loft space where it has been for the last 24 years and has not been moved - nevertheless I am arranging for it and any associated cabling to be checked over - there is nothing else apart from my YouView box and a second TV connected. Thanks again for your assistance.

Robert Price:

I suggest that you contact https://restoretv.uk/ first. Tell them that you are having problems. If you haven't got a filter they may send you one or may send you an engineer free of charge.

Robert Price: In addition to that said by Chris.SE, there are an awful lot of tall trees at the end of Crescent Road where it meets Vineyard Road. Growing taller year on year they can slowly creep into the space in front of the aerial and degrade the signal, this often affecting one or more multiplex channels, but not all. For deciduous trees, the situation can worsen when the leaves come and improve when they fall.

I wonder whether it is the trees that are the cause of your issue. That said, I don't see why trees would affect reception less at weekends!

Chris.SE: Whilst waiting for response from restoretv.uk - I just thought it worth mentioning that two new and very tall mobile phone masts have appeared locally in the last few weeks situated at the Brooklands and Haygate Road - both around 800-1000m from my house.
