To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Marianne,Ipswich.Hard to say without a full postcode.However judging by the large amount of texts on here relating obviously to the recent relocation of ArqB multiplex from fr 50 to fr 63,broadcasting on minimal power around 2.2kw until Wednesday 27 June 2012 when it relocates to fr 56 and increases to 100kw by then along with the understrength ArqA and SDN mux's,it appears that this temporary transition to allow Tacolneston to accomodate ArqB on fr 50 from Wednesday 23 November 2011,the day when that transmitter completes DSO2,has gone a wee bit pearshaped.One remedy if it allows is to perform a manual search,only this time in this order first manually scan ArqB on fr 63,then followed by ArqA on fr 54,next SDN (listed as Mux A on Sudbury's pages) on fr 49 these first three presently the weakest,then input the strongest mux's first if you have HD the BBCB multiplex on fr 47,followed by D3+4 on fr 41 and last of all BBCA on fr 44.Hopefully this might work.If it does not then it's a case of possibly waiting until Wednesday 27 June 2012 when both the Bluebell Hill and the Dover main transmitters go all digital by then.

Hi, my freeview digibox has taken to sometimes scrambling/pixellating channels or sometimes says "no signal" whatsoever, this is only a recent problem in the last week or so, and i have done all of the recommended methods of solving it, like turning off and on, unplugging completely, re-tuning, taking aerial plugs etc in and out. These methods sometimes help sometimes do not, and if they do it does the same again when it is next on, the next day or whenever, initially it was only BBC that it was doing this on, all the other channels were perfectly ok, but on sunday, sometimes it was the BBC channels and sometimes it was the ITV and channel 4 channels as well!! Getting very tiresome now, do the think the digibox needs replacing? Any help please

Have tried the Freeview reset procedure and now only have 25 channels where I had around 80. My postcode is BS30 8BD - the Warmley area of Bristol. Aerials are in the loft space.

Richard Leybourne: The reason I mentioned lights being off in the stairway is because communial aerial systems in flats usually require electricity. This will be supplied from that used for communial areas, rather than one flat's supply.

Thus, if all the lights on the stairway went out at the same time that the TV signal failed, it is a possible clue to the reason behind the loss of signal.

Which channels are you getting?

Do you have another TV or box that you can try?

My postcode is CO3 4HG and I hope you are joking when you say we may have to wait until the end of June until it gets sorted out!
