To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

I found something called retune messages and turned that OFF - So hopefully that will sort it out when it harrasses me at 3pm for retune...

I know when winter comes and the trees are leafless I usually get better signal as I am in a very lefy area....

Thank You :-)

I live in Chancellor Park, Chelmsford. I have a TV with built in Freeview, and it has been fine up until to two days ago. Now, although the menu tells me what programmes are on each channel, when I go to those channels I get the little yellow triangle with the message "no signal". I have gone through the procedure of taking out the aerial, retuning to get no stations, reinserting the aerial and retuning. I get 185 channels. However, apart from the terrestrial channels, I am still getting the same issue. Is there a known current problem in our area?

I live in Margate, Kent and our second rescan happened on the 27th June. I have three TVs from the same aerial, all of which were professionally hooked up. One of my TVs is using a freeview box which doesn't give me a choice of area following rescan and, although the aerial is pointed at Dover, all the channels on that TV come from East Anglia. A second, newer, box in my bedroom allows me to choose channels for East Anglia, Kent or East Sussex.
As for the new HD ready TV in the living room, am I missing something? Should I not now be receiving four HD channels without buying any more equipment? Nothing seems to have been scanned in except for the ubiquitous "coming soon" channels.
Also, interestingly and probably due to adverse weather conditions, one of the boxes on Wednesday night, tuned in only Dutch channels from something called Digiten. The Dutch must enjoy some powerful transmissions on their service if it's strong enough to override Dover.

They must be fiddling with the transmitter or something as suddenly even ITV is having pixxelating.

I dont beieve we are getting 20 wossit (megs?) of transmitter thingy - As maybe on Day1 - But since then it has steadily gone downhill.

Oh well... I guess at least i can see the tv which is a plus (I guess they will sort it out in the end - Its not like they've had years to sort it 'sarccccc')

Nope - I reckon they have turned the signal strength down or something as on the switchover day it was fab - Today its just as bad as it was before they supposedly upped the sinal - Grrrr. Oh well I'll hafta put up with it cos I dont have anyone to fix anything - It was just so lovely on 27th, and now it's back to where it was before where i know every time a car goes by

Sarah C.Chatham.Has the weather been warm and sunny in your locality just recently.If it has then atmospherics or the inversion effect was the likely cause recently !

Sarah C: And in addition to the problem possibly being caused by atmospheric conditions that Mark Fletcher has suggested, I did fully explain the other reasons you are likely to experience intermittent reception in your area in the two replies I made to you on the 27th, the content of not having changed any, as pixelation accompanied by witnessing the signal quality jumping up and down is nearly always caused by by either tree branches blowing around in the wind (worse if wet) or receiving a generally low level of signal thats prone to picking up reflections from moving objects, and so I don't really feel that you will get satisfactory reception unless you have your aerial system checked out and adjusted as necessary by someone suitably equipped.

Although going back to a statement you made on the 13th regarding having to switch the booster back on again to be able to receive in the bedrooms, the point about this being that you cannot just switch a booster off as its unpowered internal amplifier will then act like an attenuator and so has to be by-passed, albeit by doing this it will only allow the signal from the aerial to feed one TV, although this is enough for a test.

My tv and recorder worked perfectly well before the recent changes, the areial works fine until I turn the recorder on, and then Itv1, Channel's 4 and 5 plus Itv2 all pixalate or say no signal.
Have they turnd down the power on the transmitter?
I live at Rayne near Braintree.

T J Bull: Are the channels on Mux D3+4 being received from the transmitter to which the aerial is pointing? Crystal Palace and Sudbury are both shown as possibilities for reception at your location. Check if there are any alternative channels stored in the 800s of the channel list that work correctly. You could also try moving the position of the connecting leads relative to the TV and recorder to make sure there is no interaction between them, causing interference to block the required mux.
