Divis (Northern Ireland) transmitter

Well, I've lost both BBC multipexes along with everything on channel 23 this afternoon.

Obviously due to conditions since there's a bit of a lift on at the moment.

Roll on 24th October when this kind of thing will be a thing of the past. Can't come soon enough.

Pity they couldn't up the power a bit (10 kw would be nice) and add the HD channels between now and then. Still, I suuppose there are all sorts of technical parameters to adhere to.

Notice Caldbeck is quite strong this afternoon so obviously that's the problem since it shares a number of frequencies with Divis.

Hopefully, this wont be a problem after DSO.

Indeed KMJDerby, hopefully.

Can't figure out why, pre DSO, Calbeck had Freeview ERPs of 10 and 3.2 KW while Divis is restricted to 2.3 and 1.6 kw. Even 10 kw would make a big difference here.

It's a real pity Carnmoney Hill (the nearest transmitter to me) is Freeview Lite post DSO as well.

Hopefully, Caldbeck wont be a problem here after the power increase at Divis. Even 50 kw should make a big difference. .

Mike W/Terry Gaut: See my previous posts.

It's all due to conditions. Caldbeck is bombing in here today so obviously that's the problem (Caldbeck shares a number of frequencies with Divis).

You'll just have to wait until this high pressure disappears.

Hopefully, this kind of thing wont happen after 24th October when Divis has a massive power increase to 100/50 kw. Current ERP levels are only a measly 2.3/1.6 kw.

Leonerd Brett:

Digital UK's postcode checker indicates Divis reception in youir area should be fine, post DSO.

Be careful the gain of your aerial isn't too high as this will cause problems when Divis icreases power to 100/50 kw on the 24th October.

If you can't get the NIMM from Black Mountain Iderown, you may be able to receive it from Carnmoney Hill which is only across the lough.

Moville Saorview transmitter

I take it Saorview reception of this transmitter along the north coast of NI i.e. Portrush, Portstewart etc. is fine ? Is it still transmitting analogue ?

Must take a wee run up to my parent's apartment in Portrush and check things out.

Tom: The Technisat should receive the NI mini multiplex (RTE1, RTE2, and TG 4) when it comes on air as this should conform to Freeview standards.

However, as has been reported elsewhere, it appears to have problems with Saorview. TG4, TV3, 3e etc. are apparently fine. RTE1 and RTE2 disappear after a few minutes. It appears to be a software glitch which Technisat refuse to fix since the unit is designed for the UK market.

Brian: Saorview does not transmit BBC1, BBC2 and BBC3 and BBC News. Any chance of you putting the correct Saorview channels on the ROI transmitter section ?

Moville Saorview transmitter

Thank's Peter.

My Parent's apartment has communal Aerials installed which obviously includes RTE (Moville) as they get perfect reception of RTE1, RTE2 and TG4 (No TV3).

Just wondering if Saorview reception was mirroring that of the analogue coverage.

As I say, must take a wee run up and check out Saorview with my Humax Fox HD t2 (which is relatively cheap now).

Unfortunately, no Saorview here in Jordanstown despite excellent analogue reception from Clermont Cairn. Hopefully, this wont be the case after October 24th.
