connect it up your self its easy to do,you don't need a phone connection for it to work properly, you just wont be able to order films or buy from shopping channels.

the first thing to do is to establish that there is a signal coming from from the dish, you will need to get a known working sky box to try, or contact an engineer who has a satellite meter, have a look at the connection on the end of the cable it should be a F con type screw on make sure that is OK don't use any tools to tighten it up, finger tight is good enough.

Mike I think the sony TV will have the old software in it- no EPG,go further down the channel list you should find a different BBC and ITV, that mite be the channels you are looking for, then you can change the channel numbers to suit, also do a first time installation search first, if that dose not work you will have to have your aerial repositioned to a different mast.

It will probably be OK, but you would be better having a new aerial and cable fitted if the aerial has been up for few years.

The cable is called shotgun cable or double sky cable, the connectors {F connectors}are a bit smaller than the standard connectors, you wont find them in any of the sheds, you will have to go to an aerial satellite specialist for them. .Tom Fletcher Alpha Aerials Sheffield.

The aerial has to go striate into the humax box, male connection in, then you have an RF lead that has a male/female connection that goes to the TV,scart the humax box to Av 1 input connection on the TV, switch on the humax box, select AV 1 on your TV using your TV remote control, and you should get a menu telling you what to do next. Peter Barker,
Loft aerials are no good for digital reception, your aerial needs to be out side on the highest part of your house,if you want to run more than one TV you will have to have a mast amplifier system fitted, alternatively if you have a quad or a 4 out put LNB fitted to your dish you could get two freesat boxes for your small TVs, get a local aerial guy to come and give you a quote.

We need a post code to help you properly, but at the moment till switch over, analogue and digital are being broad cast together, fitting a booster simply over loads the digital signal,if you want to run more than one TV, you will get the best results having a mast amplifier system fitted.Tom Fletcher Alpha Aerials Sheffield.
