This was my exact email to Turner Movies:
Dear Sir,
Can you please explain to me why i have to pay over £300 per year to Rupert Murdoch's BskyB organisation to watch:
Channel 317 TCM
Channel 318 TCM2
Channel 601 Cartoon Network
Channel 602 CNN2
Channel 603 Boomerang
Why do you allow this organisation to encrypt your channels whilst you receive revenue from advertising?
There are millions of ordinary families in the UK that are affected by this?
Your Company has allowed this to continue for many years and it is time that you addressed it!
These channels should be free to view!

That has puzzled me for a long time (Although i know channel five can be tuned in Manually)
Why do people have to use SKY TVs Plastic cards in order to receive Channel five in the normal lists as well as fiver and Five US etc?
I also wondered, if someone gets a card from Sky TV do the details get put into the BBC Data Base, just as if you were buying a New TV?

Would Channel Five have any authority to demand that BskyB stops using this soft encryption on its channels? Would i be wasting my time writing to Channel five?

Could everyone get together and make an online petition to get something done about these prices that BskyB are charging?
Also something needs to be done about channels that do not belong to BskyB being encrypted.
OFCOM make out that all of this is not within their remit and that Sky can charge what they want?

Should my points focus on Skies Prices and also the fact that many of these english language channels are encrypted by Sky and paid for in advertising revenues? Should the aim of the petition be that it is fair of Sky to charge for the movie channels, Live Sports and Box Office, but all other channels should be free to view, especially those that are not owned by Sky, Like UKTV, TCM, E! etc

Everyone is sick and tired of these prices set by BskyB.
OFCOM are useless.
I have ben writing to them for about 3 years and they will not do anything about these prices.
I contacted UKTV who run Gold to ask them "Why do we have to pay Sky TV around £300 per year to watch your channels" They wrote back to say "It was not their fault, it was the fault of Sky TV"
It is rediculous that these channels are being encrypted by Sky TV whilst being financed with advertising revenue. This has gone on for years, people have complained, the Pub Licencing Trade have had to take their case to Europe, and even have to get Sky via other countries because BskyB are charging far too much and OFCOM will do nothing about it. It is all wrong

I have forgotten. I have a Sky Remote Control for a standard sky box. It is the REV 8 version. How do you use Autosearch so that the remote control can scan for the right code to operate an unidentified TV make?

Hi Les, I respect you, you are talking about areas even i did not know.
All i can say is we are being ripped off and OFCOM are useless.
They are sitting there doing nothing as if they are owned by Rupert Murdoch - They are certainly not looking after our best interests.
