I would like to know if my UK TV (SAMSUNG PS43D450A2 -43" PLASMA TV) can be used abroad, specifically The Netherlands.
I am not asking if I can receive UK programs though that would be nice, because I believe it is not possible, unless transmitted locally.
Additional information. In The Netherlands virtually all TV is transmitted via cable networks.

Peter Hunt: Yes, the Netherlands use DVB-T, the same as the UK for terrestrial broadcasts. However, most homes there use cable TV and this will work with any TV with a SCART or HDMI socket.

Hi Brian,
I moved house recently and there is a pol sat satellite dish here. I hooked up my sky box (not plus) as i thought i would get the free channels through it. But it keeps saying "No satellite signal is being received". I have tried all the steps you have listed on this site and still it does not work. I brought the box to a friends house and plugged it in and it worked fine. The signal strength and quality are both good. Is there anything you could recommend that i could try to resolve this? I appreciate any suggestions you might have!!

I have just bought a Freesat TV for my lounge and want to link it so my kitchen tv displays the same as in the lounge. Previously we had Sky in the front room and a link to the kitchen tv but this setup won't work as the the splitter used previously is now redundant ie we have no box for the splitter to plug in to.

We have just had an external ariel fitted after using an internal one quite successfully for over 20 yrs. We have also purchased a new bush digital recorder so we have the old one in one room and the new in the other, being connected by a spliter box from the new ariel, our problem is that after loading on all the channels successfully when we put on the guide button on the handset to record a programme we noticed that on a lot of channels it says NO EVENT INFORMATION which means we cannot record any programmes on those paticular channels, Any suggestions many thanks Ken.

I have a flatscreen digital freeview LG 32LH2000 my ariel goes straight from the tv to the wall to the external ariel i have lost multiplex 2(itv1,ch4,ch5,itv2,ch4+ 1,more4,e4,itv1+1.)& multiplex c(picktv,dave,dave ja vu,e4 1,picktv+1 sky news,really)is going same way some lossof sound & pixalated picture this problem has occurred since the last storey of a 4 storey building has been built across the lane in same direction as the ariel is facing is this responsible?when i phone the people i rent from do i tell them we need a wideband or stronger ariel?

s.black: A tall building standing in the signal path can certainly cause reception problems. There are one or two things to check first before calling out a tv aerial installer. The Digital UK postcode checker predicts Freeview reception to be possible from two transmitters. To the North at 10 degrees from your location is Hannington, to the South is Rowridge. Check that your receiver is tuned to the correct frequencies for the transmitter that the aerial is pointing towards. Hannington has Mux2 on C43+ and MuxC on C44+. For Rowridge Mux2 is C32+ and MuxC is C37. Check that all cables and connectors are in order, also that no nearby equipment such as a Sky box or VCR has the RF modulator set to a frequency that would block Mux2. It is always worth disconnecting any leads (except the aerial, of course) that may be attached to the TV before doing a reception check. If it turns out that the new building IS blocking the signal path you will need the aerial re-positioning or possibly directing to the alternative transmitter.
