Freeview reception at WR2 6RP

For reliable and stable Freeview reception, you need an unobstructed path between the TV aerial on your roof and the digital TV transmitter. The map below shows the transmitters predicted to provide a signal at this location.

You can click on any transmitter symbol to show the coverage area as a green overlay on the map. Double click on a transmitter symbol to go to the transmitter information page.

You can also view the ten closest potential '4G-at-800' mobile phone masts within 1.5km of the selected location - these masts may be used for 4G-at-800 mobile broadband services from 2013-2015.

Yvette: If, as appearances would suggest, you are connected into a communal aerial system?, then you should check with others who reside in adjoining flats to ascertain if they are also suffering from similar problems with reception, and if they are? contact the landlords agents, as they are entirely responsible for rectifying the problem.

eric swan: You'd have to read your manual, but my old Goodmans box (they are made by the same company) used to do this, and we simply pushed one of the up/down/side buttons or OK and they disappeared.

Apologies if anyone saw a preview of the "allChannelsForPrediction" system that I'm working on; it's nowhere near ready and shouldn't have been copied from staging.B

I have sky plus + box connected to a TV upstairs that has built in free view when I connect the roof aerial into the TV the sky picture becomes grainy, I have tried changing the rf channel on the sky box but I don't know which channel would be best?

Dave: Aerials in your area are seen to be pointing in a number of directions, therefore it would have been of assistance to know which station you are receiving Freeview from, however as Belmont or Waltham would appear to be the favourites you should try setting the RF modulators output to 38.

That said, it should also be noted that if you are using an aerial amplifier? then this will (or is liable) to add grain to an analogue picture no matter what channel the modulator is set to, especially so if the amp in question is a of the high gain variety.

Another possible source of trouble being if there are any 4G transmitters operating in the area, in that case, the addition of a 4G filter in line with the boxes RF input would most likely cure the problem, although 4G filters should really be fitted between the aerial and the amplifier.

Dave & jb38:
Knowing that area of Sutton in Ashfield, it is just as likely that Dave is using Sutton Coldfield due to the terrain. Hence aerials aimed at different directions.

MikeP: Yes, fully agree, as that could well be the case, although that said was based on that seen on a google earth rooftop check of the area, and where most of the aerials (with the exception of one) are seen to be pointing in an Easterly direction, the angles of suggesting that Waltham (@ 29 miles/136 degrees) is the preferred station, albeit that a line-of-sight obstruction to the signal path from said station is seen at approximately just under 4 miles from Dave's location.

However, the advice given with regards to the best RF channel to use is really irrespective of where Dave receives his Freeview signal from, at least from within the 4 possible sources, as RF38 does not clash with any of them.

Not quite Freeview, but I have a query about Satellite channels. Now that the channels have been re-distributed to different Astra satellites, there are four ITV HD channels on the same frequency / polarity. The frequency is 11097, polarity V and each is labelled 'ITV HD'. Is it possible to determine whether the channel is London, or Granada (for example) without waiting for something like local news?
