paul rhodes: If you are using a communal dish, presumably everyone use who uses Sky or Freesat in the building is also affected. You'll have to keep raising the issue with your landlord/agent until they get the dish repositioned to a location where the trees are not blocking the signal. Sky won't be able to do much about the lack of signal as they don't own either the dish or the offending trees.

nick: Having too much signal can cause the tuner to become overloaded and appear to have no signal. If you are seeing 100% during normal conditions then you already have the maximum amount of signal the tuner can handle. Try fitting an attenuator such as one from the link below to reduce the amount of signal reaching the tuner. There are also 6db, 9db and 12db versions which can be connected together in any combination to reduce the signal further if required. I have a 3db connected to my main TV which has successfully stopped breakup I was experiencing on some of the HD channels.

Stephen: The breakup is most likely being caused by electrical interference generated by something nearby which is only turned on during the afternoon, probably on a timer. It could be something in your home or a nearby neighbour.

Lesley Webb: Are you missing any other channels, such as Pick, Dave or Really?

Stephen: It would most likely be somewhere very close by, not necessarily in the direction of the transmitter.

Malcolm miles: None of the local TV stations are on Freesat, only a handful are on Sky. Bay TV haven't announced that they will be and their Liverpool station isn't on Sky either.

David: The BBC are about to use it for additional temporary red button channels for the Olympics, but other than that presumably there aren't any other broadcasters interested in launching HD services on Freeview beyond those already available.

Chris Welton: Alibi is not available on Freeview or Freesat. It is available as part of a Sky or Virgin Media subscription or via online services such as TVPlayer: Watch Live TV Online For Free and others.

DAWN PUGH: A full postcode will enable us to see which transmitters you should be able to receive. Also, please don't write in all capitals as it's harder to read and generally considered to be shouting.

Mike Davies: Retunes are necessary if you want new (or moved) channels to appear on your TV. There will be a major retune on Thursday this week relating to the BBC's temporary Olympic services. You can always ignore retune notices and just retune manually if a channel you want to watch is affected.
