Hi
My post code is BD13 3BT and my house number is 31. The aerial is a communal aerial and is sited on the side of one of the houses, not on the roof. An engineer from the housing association called, but reception was good on that day so all he could suggest was that my house is on the end run of the aerial cable! No help!

I have a Humax pvr 9300t. The signal strength on all muxes is about 70 to 75% and the signal quality about 90 to 100% However, on channel 51 (Emley Moor) the signal quality occasionally fluctuates rapidly between 10% and 100%. This can last for several hours and then the following day it is perfect again and can remain that way for weeks.

The fact that it can be perfect for weeks obviously rules out washing machine, freezer etc and having the boiler on or off makes no difference. Also my mobile phone and cordless phone are always in the same place so it cannot be that either.

I am stuck!
Thank you
Norma

Thank you MikeB. You are right the problem occurs in wet weather. The communal aerial is not as high as a roof aerial and it's line of sight to the transmitter has a large tree in it's path. I think I am correct in saying thinking that wet leaves can reduce the signal?

I assume when the aerial was installed the tree was smaller and not a problem. Obviously no-one had the foresight to make allowances for the fact it would get taller!

I have kept a close eye on things for a couple of weeks and I am 99% certain this is the problem. I have sent an email to the housing association asking for the aerial to be raised ,or the tree to be given a good pruning!

Thanks again
Norma
