jb38: Sorry should have replied much earlier to share the resolution to my issues. Basically I moved the dish so the tree was not directly in the sight line to the satellite.

As I said, nothing had changed in the previous installation for 10 yrs. But maybe the long wet winter, which was warmer than previous year, had made the leaves on that tree juicer/thicker. Result. Had a greater effect absorbing the signal from the satellite. Probably need a tree specialist to comment on that. I'm just guessing

I was going to have to do this at some point due an extension to the existing house. Anyway. Moving the dish about 5m to the right, maybe slightly higher made the difference. Signal and quality indicators not far of the maximum.

Never trust a tree........get a chainsaw......
