I am in Northampton on the Sandy Heath transmitter - I have read a few of the posts here and am experiencing the same problem as a number of other people. Since the work was done on 9th, I have re-retuned my TV numerous times each day but am still missing a good number of channels i.e. ITV3, 5*, 5USA etc. all of which I had previously. I have followed the suggestions and re-tuned with the aerial unplugged then re-tuned with it plugged back in but still no joy.

Hi jb38

many thanks for your quick response and advice. I have done everything you have suggested including the 'factory default' re-set, another auto-tune and have also tried to manually re-tune channel 51 which didn't work at all, therefore, unfortunately I am still missing my 4 channels that I had previously - based on your advice, even IF I did get ITV3 back, I am still also missing 5*, 5USA and Challenge. This is getting soooo frustrating now, especially when things get changed that are 'supposed' to be an improvement. :-(

Any further help or advice you are able to give me would be very greatly appreciated. My TV is a SAMSUNG. Many thanks.

Thanks again jb38.

Ok here goes - I can still receive Pick TV (11) and Dave (19) - both crystal clear as always, however, I can no longer get Yesterday (12) nor ITV4 (24) and get a message saying 'serivce not available', and I no longer even have a Channel 27 for ITV2+1 nor Channel 38 for Quest - again, all of these I previously received and watched regularly prior to 9th May.

Apologies, I confused Challenge on 46 with Quest! - I CAN still get Challenge but not Quest.

Of course, sorry - my postcode is NN5 6YE and TV model number is a Samsung LE32B551A.

Hi jb38

many thanks for your latest post. I've now entered both Ch48 (690mhz) and Ch51 (714mhz) on the 'manual store' menu as you suggested, and both came with a selectable option of a 'Bandwidth' of either 7mhz or 8mhz - no other indication of signal strength at all - so I pressed the scan button on each Ch selection and got a message saying 'no channels memorised', so once again, no progress at all.

Whilst I acknowledge that this isn't your fault or problem and I appreciate all your kind help and advice in the matter, at the end of the day I'm really quite angry and frustrated that I now find myself without a good number of channels which I watched regularly prior to 9th May - my thoughts on this - "if it 'aint broke, don't fix it!" a sentiment which I'm sure will be mirrored by a number of people also having the same issues and problems on this forum.

many thanks again for your help.

Hi again jb38

I've been reading the new posts on this forum regularly and have been thinking about my own situation too, and I agree entirely with Ian's post on Friday 18 May 2012 4:06PM and would like to see Sandy Heath revert back to the settings it had before the upgrade on 9th May - not that this will happen (!), but I just wondered is there anyone 'official' who is responsible for the upgrades and who we can contact directly to raise our concerns about the loss of numerous FREEVIEW channels?

Perhaps if enough people who have been having problems since 9th May and have posted on this forum complain to the appropriate parties concerned, they may do something about it.

any information you are able to give would be very greatly appreciated.
many thanks as always
kindest regards
Lisa :-).

Thanks jb38 for your latest post.

Yes, you are correct in saying that I did select 8MHz before pressing the scan option on both CH48 + CH51 but still got the message no channels memorised.

I dont wish to sound thick, but I could not find any menu options to tell me what the signal level/quality of my Pick TV (11) was, so what Ive done is another factory re-set and tried to manually tune Ch11 when I typed in 11 it came up as 219500KHz and again a bandwidth of either 7MHz or 8MHz (dont know whether this helps you out or not or is the answer you were looking for?). For whatever reason my TV does not appear to let me manually store channels now, and after pressing scan on CH11 I once again got the message saying no channels memorised, however, I have now got it back again through the auto store option, so no long term disaster.

Re: your other suggestions unfortunately it is not practical or convenient for me to try and borrow another TV as I do not have access to one.

I have checked the aerial on my roof and it does appear to be pointing the same way as a number of others down my road, however, most of my immediate neighbours have satellite dishes (Sky or whatever) and I would not feel comfortable knocking on the door of someone down the road who I dont know, to ask the question, so again unfortunately, I am unable to establish whether any of the other residents in my road are having the same problem sorry.

I appreciate your honesty and as you have said in your posting, I too am sure that whoever would want to place the blame on my equipment, installation etc. but in my mind at least, this argument is weakened if not voided, by the fact that I DID previously have access to all these channels prior to May 9th I havent done or changed anything my end but THEY have. Ironically, I can still get such rubbish as BCC Parliament which I would never watch in a million years! yawn, yawn. ;-) Pity I couldnt have lost that instead of the numerous channels that I watched regularly oh well, thats progress I suppose (or NOT as the case may be).

Hi jb38

thanks again for your latest post.

Unfortunately, both my parents and my brother who live locally have Sky so they do not have a Freeview set top box, which is why I am unable to try an alternative TV. :-(

I've followed your instructions re: trying to find the quality of Ch11 (I think you may have a slightly different version of the user manual, as I have finally found this information on page 11 in my booklet), and apart from the programme information all I could see regarding what I think was the "quality" was SL, AD in brackets at the end - once again, I don't know whether this is what you are looking for or not?

I have to say that something REALLY weird has happened tonight, and after doing my daily auto-store of channels (just on the off chance of getting some of my lost channels back), my stored programmes has now jumped back up from 116 to 170!! I have now got back More4 (14), Film4 (15), 4Music (18), VIVA (21) and ITV4 (24) all of which I had prior to 9th May but had since lost, but I am still missing ITV3, 5*, 5USA and QUEST. How weird is that ..... ? Perhaps they are doing something with the receiver at Sandy again?? Who knows ... or maybe I have only got these stations back temporarily and come tomorrow they will have magically disappeared again?

Thanks very much jb38 for explaining things in simplistic terms for me - I have to admit I'm not that technically minded and am totally baffled by a lot of the jargon on these pages as it is. ;-)

Well, I was right to assume that the 5 channels that I got back last night would have disappeared again today - they have done and I either get a message on screen saying "weak or no signal" or "service not available". I have also lost Yesterday (12) as well, although I now understand that they are not 'lost' as such, just that the signal to my TV is not strong enough to pick them up at the moment - as you said, I guess I was just very lucky last night.

In all honesty, I have absolutely no idea what kind of aerial I have on my roof or whether it is a wideband one, but as your diagnosis suggests that a booster/amplifier may help with signal strength, I will probably see if I can get one reasonably cheaply and give it a go. Watch this space, I will keep you posted/updated as to any progress I may make when I get a booster.

Thank you so much once again for all your time, kind help, input and suggestions - it is much appreciated.

Many thanks jb38 and Stephen P - I'd already bought the black SLX1P Booster (up to 20dB range which I think is the one you suggested jb38) after my last posting this afternoon and managed to get a new one off eBay for just £5.00, so got a good deal there. :-)

Hopefully it will arrive by mid-week and I can try it out - will let you know how I get on.

jb38: Hi there! Well, my eagerly awaited booster arrived here safely today, however after getting it set up, the little glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel has well and truly been extinguished as sadly it has made no difference whatsoever to the channels where I have a message saying "weak or no signal". (I can confirm that I have not done any further re-tunes since the weekend).

As you suggested, I have set it gradually from nothing right up to maximum on the dial, leaving a few seconds in between moving the dial, but still no picture at any stage whatsoever.

As I'm sure you can imagine (although I appreciate not your fault :-), I'm extremely disappointed and disgruntled not to mention frustrated at the loss of the channels - I just soooo wish that people would leave things well alone!

Oh well, back to square one again ..... guess I'll just have to give it up as a bad job and accept that I'm never going to get my lost channels back again - at least I've only lost a fiver.

Thanks as always for all your kind help and suggestions - it has been much appreciated over the past couple of weeks. :-).
