Is there something wrong with the PSB1 BBCA and PSB3 BBCB muxes on Hannington? Only we've been getting a desperately bad, noisy (as in lots of bit dropouts) signal here in Kempshott, Basingstoke (it's 10.4Km line of site to Hannington) since midday Saturday. Most of the other Freeview channels are working OK.There's been quite a few occasions where the BBC HD signals aren't just noisy, but are non-existent.I know we've been having some serious weather with Storm Angus heading through at the weekend and this follow-up low pressure/wet/windy un-named storm pushing in behind.

MikeB: I pulled the cable between the TV and the wall, cleaned off some of the corrosion (it's been a while), turned it round (TV end in wall, wall end in TV for good measure). Things are much better. I suspect the foul weather had highlighted my signal attenuation problem.The next step would have been a re-tune, but things are back to normal after a simple fix.

John Blackmore: I love the expression "Since the transmitter has no apparent problems" that reminds me of the old joke: How many hardware engineers does it take to change a lightbulb? None, we have one here and it's working perfectly.

There's clearly some sort of intermittent fault on Hannington. Our installed equipment doesn't just randomly fail until it rusts and falls off the roof or until a stom like the 16th Oct 1987 tears it bodily off the chimney (got mine fixed that time with an insurance claim).

So I think the folks at Arqiva need to do some more testing and fault diagnosis before stating "Since the transmitter has no apparent problems".
