jb38: Good morning. I, too, have lost ITV3 following a retune. I am on the Crystal Palace transmitter (Postcode CM3)and it has been suggested that the warm weather may be affecting transmission of signal. I have an outside aerial on a pole which has been working perfectly up to the retune.

Do I wait until the weather changes (please, no - let the summer continue) or go for the manual tune (which I am a bit nervous of as I am not a techie)? Any help would be appreciated

JB38: Thank you very much for your prompt, comprehensive reply.

I've looked at C25 and C26 but I cannot find the signal strength shown anywhere - it just states the programmes covered.

My TV is a Sony Bravia KDL which includes the Freeview package. I don't think I have a booster on my aerial.

jb.38. I am doing something wrong, I think. When I go to the Manual retuning and put in C26 (which is, according to my TV) for ITV3 and other channels) it asks me if I want to store these. To which I have said "Yes". But they do not appear on my Guide List.

jb.38. I've done the C25 and yet ITV3 is not shown on the Guide as Freeview Channel 10, or anywhere I can see.

But as you say, at least I have found Manual tuning. Should I get a badge for this? Who has time to watch programmes with all this learning curve?

Now I just require Step 5 please. I appreciate your help. Thank you.

jb.38. Good morning. Thanks for the email.

I am unable to view: 10 - ITV3, 20 Drama, 28 E4 or 30 - 5*.

I do receive 28 - E4!

You para 3 is correct, but having looked a little more closely at the box that appears I notice that

C23 shows no numerical signal strength but displays that 22 services are available including BBC1,2,3 BBC News and Red Button.

C25 shows a possibility of 35 services including 5*, 5USA, Channel 5 +1, QVC and Bid.

C26 shows a possible 9 services, including ITV, ITV2, ITV+1, Channel 4 and Film4.

At the moment it would appear that I do not get C20 - Drama, or C30 - 58*. Strange its, 10, 20 and 30. Hmmm

Thank you

jb.38. I am so sorry but there is a mistake in my second sentence. I DO receive C28.

Sorry for the confusion.

Maureen Delissen

Hi Maureen. I see your message but I cannot help as I am struggling to get my lost ITV3 restored and I'm no techie. I've mastered the "On/Off" button and the Standby light but that's about it! I have found a very patient person on this forum who is trying to talk me through the problem. If you look at earlier comments (I hope you are looking at the same screen as me) you will find him. He's jb.38, seems to know an awful lot and will probably be able to sort your difficulties. Give him a try.

Good luck.

jb38. Hi. I have read through your very thorough notes and when I follow your paragraph 2, ie: "factory settings" and then auto-tune, what is the worst that can happen?

maw (holder of NVQ Level 1: "On/Off Switch and Standby button." Level 1 did not include "How not to panic".

jb38.

As I could not find a "factory settings" button I carried out the shortened version which you suggested, but found that at the end more programmes were missing from the guide but that it had received a total of 150 stations.

I lost heart but fortunately I managed to get a local TV man to call in today. He muttered dark things about Sony TVs and the non-user friendly aspects to them. He also tried your shortened version, without success saying that he knew the programmes were there but were not displayed. After that he tried a manual retuning of each frequency but this was also not effective. He then went on to the the route of "factory settings" (which seems to be called "Reset" on Sony)
at which point the TV gave up its battle and has retuned. It is back to "normal"

Very many thanks for your expertise, your time, and in particular, your patience.
