10th April 2013 retune for Winter Hill, Keighley transmitters and relays

To allow for the launch later this year of 4G mobile broadband, changes are being made to some digital TV transmitters. Many viewers in the North West of England (as well as parts of Yorkshire and the Midlands) will have to retune after 6am on 10th April 2013 to continue to receive certain Freeview TV and radio channels.

To allow for the launch later this year of 4G mobile broadband,
published on UK Free TV

From 6am on 10th April 2013, several multiplexes will change their transmission frequencies.

Notably the main transmitters will make changes. This includes the WINTER HILL transmitter, where the BBCA multiplex (including 1 BBC One North West, 2 BBC Two England, 7 BBC Three, 9 BBC Four, 70 CBBC Channel,71 CBeebies, 80 BBC News, 81 BBC Parliament, ) will move from C62- to C50 and the ArqivaA multiplex (11 PICK TV, 12 Dave, 17 Really, 29 E4+1, 32 Movie Mix, 46 Challenge, 48 Food Network, 62 TV Stars, 82 Sky News, 87 Community Channel,) will move from C61- to C49.

On the KEIGHLEY, BBCA will move from C61 to C49.

See below for a full list of transmission masts that will make changes.

When you now rescan, you MUST do a "first time installation" or "factory reset" scan, not an "add channels". Do the procedure you did on September 30th 2009. If you can't recall what this was, please see List of manuals for Freeview retune, or try the generic clear and rescan procedure.

Please note that the relay transmitters will take some time (between 11am and 4pm) to come back to full service:

Austwick: PSB2 C49 to C39
Bacup: PSB3 C50 to C40

Whalley: PSB3 C50 to C40
WINTER HILL: COM5 C61- to C49 PSB1 C62- to C50

The changes at WINTER HILL will cause the following relays to have no PSB1 service for some time:

The changes at KEIGHLEY will cause loss of PSB1 for some time at the relays at:

Keighley Town, Oxenhope, Skipton Town and Sutton In Craven

If you get Freeview from these masts - DO NOT retune your Freeview equipment.

I like in chorley and i have lost itv, 4, and others. I tired to retune twice this morning but i get the same results on 2 tvs with built in freeview. Unsure what could be causing it. Previously i had a very good
signal just using a standalone ariel. Any ideas?

richard green: Perhaps posting the make and model number of the TV you are having difficulty with may allow us to locate the user manual on the internet so as to explain what you need to do.

I have tried since 10th April morning until now(2pm 11th April)umpteen times to retune right from the scratch, as adviced by digitaluk, only to avail!! I'm missing all BBC channels!! My aerial is communal, and other tenants here have retuned without problems, so the problem is not in the inadequate aerial! I'm desperate to sort this out,my Toshiba Regza digi tv set is not allowing me to retune manually, and automatic retune is continuing in the same manner, without all BBC channels!I'm in New Brighton.Help anyone, please!!!

Ste: You could be receiving Freeview from either Emley Moor or Sheffield as the levels predicted are very similar, but you should carry out a signal strength test on Emley Moors BBC mux Ch47, this done by going into your TV or boxes tuning menu / manual tune and entering Ch47 but NOT followed by pressing search or scan, because the strength / quality the signal is being received at should be indicated, if though nothing be seen then try Ch44 Emley's ITV noting the result.

If no indications are seen on either then try Sheffield's BBC on Ch27, then Ch24 (ITV) giving an update on results.

By the way if you are using a Sony this procedure might not be successful.

Monica : What model of Toshiba are you using? my reason for asking being that most Toshiba's I have seen offers a manual tune option in the set up menu.

It would also be of assistance if a post code had been given, or at least one from somewhere nearby such as a shop or post office, because a test code (CH45 area) tried out was not recognised.

As advised by a pop up regarding retuning my free view box, I did a full auto search of channels this evening 11th April. I find I now only get 83 channels total (most of which I will delete) I have lost channel 4. I have not looked to see what other channels I normally watch to see if they are also missing. Fortunately I have found some programmes on 4seven. I also tried a manual scan with the same results. My post code is CV2 1HR. Please advise what I have to do to get all my original channels back.
