Can you confirm what date the Waltham Mux's4,5,6 be on same 50KW power as PSB mux's.

Thanks for the replies so far guys,after Dave metioned Little Eaton i pointed in that direction as it's roughly same as Waltham and managed to get all muxes on Waltham using this aerial:

Some channels were quite good reception but others like itv 3 were realy poor, breaking up and high bit errors.
I'm assuming these were on the lower powered multiplexes.
I exchanged the aerial for this one:

Believe it or not this was worse, so i got a refund.
Not sure which to try next,maybe this one woth a masthead amp ??

I am in the loft doing these tests as i don't like heights although if it came to the worst i could go to gutter height and fix a stand off bracket and long pole. (DE564FE)

gordon: No further power increases are planned. The COM multiplexes are intended to be half the power of the PSBs - they are not required to equal the PSB coverage.

Thanks for that. So why does S/Coldfield have all mux's at 200KW full power yet Waltham stays as is with 3 at 50KW and 3 at 25KW.

Jim: I can tell you through experience that if that first Labgear 27879 aerial you mentioned didn't give the results you expected then nothing is likely to if tried on the same day, this said because conditions can change over 24 hours and so trying another aerial on a different day isn't really an accurate test.
As you obviously realise you are not predicted as being able to receive Waltham, and in cases like that its aerial position that can in many cases bring results, this "not" by any means always meaning as high as possible but by its horizontal positioning, (each end of the loft or a facia) and once the best position is found in this plane "then" try raising and lowering it, this being where your original amplified log really scores by its sheer manoeuvrability.

Jim: If you're looking at DIYing, or even if you just want to know more, I recommend taking a look at the highly-informative www.aerialsandtv.com website.
Personally I would steer clear of the DIY stuff.
The commercial muxes are at lower power than the PSBs, so they are the ones that you're going to have to work harder to get (from Waltham).
If you can't get them (commercial muxes) from Waltham, then another possibility is that you might be able to diplex the Waltham aerial with the one you already have on SC (assuming that it picks them up). You will need to look around for a suitable diplexer that combines the required UHF channel numbers.
The PSBs from Waltham are 54, 58 and 61. The Coms from SC are 39, 42 and 45.
C61 from Waltham is likely to change in the future in order to release the spectrum for 4G mobile services. I *think* that it is to be moved to C49 (can the pros shed more light on this?), but don't quote me on that.
So you *might* be looking to combine channels up to and including 45 with those 49 and above.

I said I would steer clear of DIY stuff and I must say that I have come to that conclusion having read the ATV website. I should add that I'm an interested anorak and not a pro.
The exception to this would be where a product is recommended by professionals.

If you fitted the first aerial outside (waterproof all cable joints)you will probably get a good signal from all stations.

I am at pe12 9fr and my best signal is from Waltham. I receive 87per cent strong signal and top quality picture.

mike bourne: Considering you are 39 miles away from Waltham and located quite a bit to East of Spalding that's excellent for your area.
Its a wonder though that Belmont isn't just that bit superior, as its only 1 mile further away from you than Waltham but operates at 150Kw compared to Waltham's 50Kw. Albeit of course your aerial for Waltham would be facing 271 degrees whereas for Belmont it should be 341.
PS: Powers referred to being main Muxes.
