KMJ,Derby: I have a similar version of this box, and can personally vouch for the PITA that is the lack of manual tuning, as well as the hit and miss nature of region choice in the setup.

I'm also on Waltham, and retuning when they were having engineering work was a nightmare - Belmont kept coming up first in the scan, since its channel 22, and Waltham 49 - unplugging the aerial part through the scan is the best way, but its hit and miss.

As for why it worked before and now has problems, there having been engineering work on Waltham, so possibly thats what has lead to the change.

Bill : On the subject of losing channels in standby, just purely out of curiosity I was wondering if you are meaning that although still listed in the EPG guide selecting them from same results in a blank screen? or are you meaning that they have also disappeared from the guide?

So I turn off to stanby (red light) and turn back on (green) some channels have gone like sky news but bbc news on 80 has gone but now it is in the 800s and not issted at 80 in the epg but it is there in the 800s on the epg.The bbc news has gone/moved but bbc1 and 2 ect are all ok And I then get 9 channels ajesera this time all at the same number up in the 800s another retune and I may get 6 channels all the same up in the 800s. I feel all my problems are from the transmitter duplication east/west -- sutton stupid coalfield.Has this just had an output boost or somthing

Thank you all for your help
I have now swaped it for a polaroid box and so far so good, its manaual does not say it has region selecting, but it has. And it seems to work. Mike B your description of the goodmans being hit and miss on the region issue is a good one, I just think that the goodmans one is not very good in our situ

Bill: Changing the box for another brand model was indeed the best policy, as the symptoms described in your reply to my particular query are, as far as I am aware anyway, not a known issue with this model and neither can they be caused by an incorrect setting having been made in the set up menu, then this only leaves a defective tuner as being the most likely reason for the boxes erratic performance.

Hi
I'm not able to get any signal for BBC B from the Waltham transmitter. I believe this should be on channel 58 but my set is finding nothing on it at the frequency 770mhz and bandwidth 8mhz. I am able to receive good signals from channels 29, 49, 54, 56 and 57 but nothing from 58. I understand BBC B is a HD broadcast that requires a DVB-T2 tuner and I believe I do have this. Please can you advise what the problem may be?

My setup is;
Location: NG10 3TE
Transmitter: Waltham
Tuner: Samsung 46F6300 TV
Aerial: Wide band loft installation

Thanks for any advice you can give.
Ben

Ben Whittle: Any F Samsung (2013) has a Freeview HD tuner. Waltham is certainly fine, since thats what I'm using (albeit in SD). Could be your aerial isn't picking up the higher frequency? Perhaps one of the reception/aerial gurus can help.

Cheers mikeb. I too can get the SD programmes from Waltham. What I find strange is that I get zero HD (channel 58) reception, not even a poor a poor quality signal. Is this an aerial issue or am I making some other mistake?

Are there problems at Waltham Transmitter? It says "Service is not running" on Mux - COM5 (ArqA) and COM6 (ArqB).

I'm in the NG13 area. Echoing some of the earlier comments my HD reception broke up one evening late September and has been unavailable since. Re-tuned several times, keep getting Yorks & Lincs as BBC1/ITV. Re-positioned aerial, boosted signal as recommended, signal strength genrally OK. Can get E Midlands/Central on channels 800/801, but daly seems to change between 800/801 and 804/805. What's going on?? Has pwer on Waktham been reduced? Is it new 4G transmissions? Interstingly, older equipment not built for HD and not r-tuned seems to cope better than newer HD model TV. Is it going to get better in Jan 2014 as indicated by charts?
