why are some multiplexes still on low power even though switchover has happened on the sudbury transmitter?

some channels still break up

the ones at maximum are perfect

there are still low power multiplexes

i was under the impression all would be high after switchover

any info would be useful

Darren : you obviously believed the 'hype' in the local and national press.
3 of the 5 MUXes will remain on low power until June 2012.
I sent a long letter on this subject to Ipswich Evening Star 3-4 weeks ago, to try to alert people like yourself to the true situation, but they refused to publish it because it contradicted Peter Monteith of Digital UK, who had given them the 'official' (and inaccurate) line.

Brian : thanks. It is typical that a 'non-standard switchover' would apply to us here in Suffolk et al : I assume the powers that be think we 'country bumpkins' haven't yet got electricity, let alone television ...

I receive signal from the Sudbury Transmitter, Why do I have to re tune in November ? Also will the MUX for A, COM5 & COM6 increase ? Currently showing 'VERY LOW' on your charts and consequently signal/reception quality not consistent.
I live in Felixstowe.

jb38 : you may be interested in what has happened with my dad's Freeview 'gadget' after DSO Part 2 (at IP2 0QH) :

It now gets the 3 low power MUXes at strength < 50% and quality between 50 and 75% ; BBCA remains at 99% strength but <50% quality; but D3+4 on CH41 is totally absent! He told me this on the phone, but I didn't believe him so went round to check. It shows as 0% strength and quality BUT the 'meter' flickers all the time it is on that channel which makes me think it IS finding something. He therefore has no ITV/C4/C5 etc on the 'gadget'. His Freeview on DTV ; PVR and standard 'box' have all re-tuned happily and found all MUXes including D3+4, which is at full strength and quality.
I can only think, as per my original suspicion, that the signal is now too 'loud' for the gadget.
I am about to go away on holiday but will try some alterations to what he's got when I get back.
Everything at my place is working fine.

Transmitter engineering: I did an "initial scan" deleted all channels. Good signal but how do i get HD. No sign of it mentioned on using guide (epg), or listed as addition channel.
Tried bbc1,2,itv1 and others. Pressing "I" on some channels says hd is available.
tv is a panasonic TX-L32S20BA (full HD 1920 * 1080) Area Ip5 (Kesgrave), trasmitter Dudbury.
