What a mess this new itv retune has been.
Around lunch time yesterday my Humax digi box was forced into a retune. The original CH 60 was replaced with CH 54 which gives local news from Bristol instead of Oxford etc and the HD equivalent is now the same presenters but presenting news from Kent and Surrey! The retune is on CH 57 . The signal strength suggest this being broadcast from Oxford .

The good news is that I can retune to the original multiplexes to get the correct local programmes.

I should add that I am not picking up the Mendip transmission on the back of the beam as the front to back ratio is quite good.

Anybody know who to report a problem with the Freeview guide data to?

For some reason ITV2+1 is showing data for 25 hours ahead!!!

Just to explain a programme showing in the guide for ITV2 at 13:00 on Saturday is shown as being broadcast on Friday at 12:00 on ITV2+1.

The programmes are being correctly broadcast one hour later.

I've verified this on two separate sources.

Thanks

Don't worry, ITV have finally noticed after three days that the guide was wrong.

I heard a rumor about UHF channels 50-60 is being sold off to mobile broadband. I found this info on UK vintage radio repair website... Of-com have already approved the sale... happening in 5 years time... whats does that mean for Oxford transmitter? does it mean moving channels to group B or A.... or is it closing down?

its only a rumor..... like to know if this is true?

Rob:

Thought is has yet to be officially confirmed, I understand that the 700-800 MHz range is set to be 'sold off' so the spectrum could, perhaps, be used for 4G or 5G mobile usage.

Transmitters, like Oxford, that currently broadcast at least some of their signals will be adjusted so that they transmit at lower frequencies. That is why we have oftem suggested people have either a Group K aerial, which covers all of the Group A channels as well as most of those in Group B so will be capable of receiving all the channels after the adjustments, or else have a log-periodic aerial which covers the UHF TV spectrum so is suitable for the current frequencies as well as all those envisaged in the foreseeable future - subject to Ofcom's confirmation of course.

That is likely to be the situation for next 5-10 years but after that there could be more major changes but that is open to speculation at present with no firm 'hints' coming from Ofcom.

So, do not worry about loosing your Oxford signals for a while yet.

I have an unusual problem. I have a Humax Freeview HD PVR downstairs and a TVonics Freeview HD PVR upstairs, off the SAME professionally installed roof aerial.

The Humax now tunes to the Oxford Test Transmission on Channel 8.

However, the TVonics box does not. It has BBC3 on 7 and BBC4 on 9 but manually selecting channel 8 reverts to BBC3 on ch 7?

I have updated all software for the TVonics box and factory resets as well as multiple clearing of channels and retuning. Nothing will bring the Ch 8 Oxford Test transmission up.

Any explanation would be welcomed, please

Jon Dennington: l have TVonics PVR, I had to do a manual tune. Remember the LOX multiplex is on channel 29, not 51 as stated on this web site. Despite low signal level it works ok here in Swindon.

Thanks for the quick reply. All other devices off this aerial pick up ch8 on 29. My Tvonics is a DTR-Z500HD and even after a channel clean and reset, on manual tune 29 (or 51!) still shows no signal and no channels.

This reminds me of the necessary Vestel chip upgrades via serial cable on the Digihome type boxes I helped with a few years ago when certain muxes could not be seen after a transmission change!?

If I take the aerial out of the PVR and put it directly in the attached HD Freeview TV then 29 picks up ch8 so not a signal strength issue?
