John Plant: Derby only provides the three PSB multiplexes. Its purpose originally was to provide the East Midlands BBC One and ITV1 services to viewers using the Sutton Coldfield transmitter.

C48 is Derby BBC A and C46 is Sutton Coldfield D3&4. C29 is Waltham SDN. That suggests your box/TV just stores the first version of the channels that it finds.

The predictions are slightly better from Waltham than from Derby, so I suggest you do a manual retune using the channel numbers on the Waltham transmitter page. See Digital Region Overlap for more ideas on how to get the services you want tuned in.

Hi, since yesterday my Freeview reception has gotten very bad to the point where T.V. is unwatchable now. And is even worse after a re-scan. Does anyone know of any problems in the Derby area? Postcode DE1 1AJ.
Thanks,
Leavon.

Martyn: The Derby relay, which is transmitted from a mast in Littleover village, is intended to serve viewers living in the Allestree/ Chester Green/Chaddesden/ Oakwood areas with their aerial pointing towards Sutton Coldfield. If your receiver has stored Sutton Coldfield frequencies in the "normal" positions in the channel list the East Midland variations will appear in the 800s on most receivers, if there is a signal present from the Derby relay. To place the East Midlands in preferred positions in the channel list you will need to do a manual tune of the Derby frequencies (C48 and C51), after first clearing the channel list, then add the Sutton Coldfield COM frequencies C39, C42 and C45.

Daz: In the interests of accuracy your brothers post code is really required, but on a test code of S32 5AA (Hope Valley Post office) the Calver Peak PSB only relay is indicated as being located at just under two miles away and its HD is on mux Ch39.

If though you receive the BBC and ITV without glitching then your problem is inclined to suggest that the box being used is not fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner, this being a necessary requirement for HD reception.

Would you know the model number of the box in question?
