David Belmar:

Did you mean frequency? or Channel LCN in the EPG? All LCNs in the range 25-82 are moving down one, so they'll be 26-83. Davejavu moves from 23 to 25. BBC3 SD will be on 23 and HD will be on 109.
So Food Network will move from 42 to 43.
See BBC Three launches | Freeview for the official detail.

Food network is carried on the ArqA/COM5 multiplex on UHF C22 that's 482MHz at Crystal Palace.
See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are carried on which multiplex.

The signal for BBC fOUR hd and some other HD channels ( abc news, RT ETC ) has disappeared.
I have carried out retuning as recommended and manually retuned by get no signal on Frequency 55
which was the BBC fOUR FREQUECY WHEN i RETUNED last year.
My postcode is W11 3LT and communal roof aerial in not blocked by buildings etc.
I get other HD channels and bizarrely the new BBC Three .
Is there a temporary probable at Crystal Palace or have BBC Four HD programs no longer avaialable in
Central London ?

Stephen Dunkin:

I can't find any reported problems for COM7 (on C55) which carries those particular HD channels and there's no Planned Engineering listed at this time.
BBC3 time shares with CBBC which are carried on the BBCB HD/PSB3 multiplex (on C30 from Crystal Palace).

A number of people have had strange issues with this retune and it may not have been helped by the weather conditions at the time where the high pressure was accompanied by some "Temperature Inversion/Tropospheric Ducting" - should be clear now, resulting in interference from distant transmitters in Europe or the UK.
Some have found missing channels in the 800s.

If you have them in the 800s, your best bet is to unplug the aerial, carry out a full automatic retune which should clear all previous tuning.
Then plug the aerial back in and repeat the retune, hopefully all channels will be correctly restored.
If they are just missing try a manual retune on C55 again.

If you still have problems, look in your TV tuning section for signal strength and quality figures for the multiplexes on each UHF channel and post the figures.

Re 700Mhz Clearance
Is there any further update regarding the TV channels broadcast from Crystal Palace via COM7 Multiplex (UHF Channel 55, 746MHz) - including when the channels will be moved and the frequencies to which the TV channels will be relocated ?

Peter Hamlin: Copy of my reply to your post on the Rebuilding Freeview High Definition from 2019 onwards page:

30th June 2022 is the end date for the COM7 multiplex licence and the centre gap frequencies of the 700MHz band (where COM7 sits) were awarded to EE in Ofcom's 700MHz auction last year, so that is the basis of the widely held prediction of COM7 closing. There has been no announcement of the exact closure date, nor has any broadcaster announced what will happen to any of their channel on COM7. There is currently a small amount of capacity available on COM4-6 but there isn't anywhere near enough to accommodate every channel currently on COM7 and it will be more expensive as COM4-6 have greater coverage.

Hi there,

Great website, really useful for planning a DIY aerial instal to try and pick up Com7 on Crystal Palace. Currently use an old Group A Aerial - so adding a new K Group - which looking at some test results on www.aerialsandtv.com should go up to C55/ 746MHz.

My questions is, is the Com7 multiplex still due to be dropped from Crystal Palace, the freeview website says it should still be there after 2025:
Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free - you'd need a postcode to find the Crystal Palace transmitter under detailed view.

If its due to be dropped I might as well keep the Group A aerial which works fine on the lower channels.

Thanks,

Adam

AdamL: The COM7 multiplex licence is due to expire on 30th June 2022 and I haven't seen any announcement about it being extended. I think COM7 being shown to be available until 2025 is probably down to no end of service date having been announced, so I wouldn't suggest spending money on a new aerial to get COM7 when it is due to close in a little over 3 months time.

I live in North London (Barnet N20). News HD Channel and some others for me disappeared some time back. Couldn't work out why as they are still on Crystal Palace. I finally worked out that my aerial is pointing at Reigate and not Crystal Palace. Similar direction for Reigate and Alexandra Palace and when you are up on the roof on a windy day ....
I was able to manually tune to a weak Com7 signal on Crystal Palace.
Might help some people who assume they are pointing at Crystal Palace.

AFAIK COM 7 IS closing, BBC News HD is also being removed from Freeview.
BBC Four HD is being switched to BBC B Mutipkex - cwhich is UHF channel 30, not channel 48 as stated above.
Goodbye to Foreces TV etc I assume.

Adrian: COM7 is closing when it's licence expires on 30th June. As David says BBC News HD is closing on Freeview (but will remain on satellite/cable/iPlayer) whilst BBC Four HD & CBeebies HD are moving to PSB3/BBCB. BFBS (the military charity who run Forces TV) have announced that their channel will close on all platforms at the end of this month (not just Freeview).
