Derek Watts: It is listed. It is down as "LW" and appears after COM6. The power is 20kW as against 200kW for the six main channels. The radiation pattern for LW is shown above when the heading "Is the transmitter output the same in all directions?" is clicked.

I like to ask... does anyone know when DVB T1 SD closes and goes full HD DVB T2 the reason i ask i noticed more boxes are going HD T2 for sale and seeing less and less of T1 boxes...

There may be no cessation of SD transmissions and the timing of the introduction of transmissions that can only be received by DVB-T2 equipment is entirely in the hands of Ofcom. A DVB-T2 tuner is capable of receiving SD (whether contained in a DVB-T1 or DVB-T2 multiplex) and HD signals in a DVB-T2 multiplex only (at present), so for manufacturers it makes more sense to sell DVB-T2 equipped TVs that can be used with currently planned transmissions for at least the foreseeable future. Some sources suggest that by around 2019/2020 all, or at least most, multiplexes will be DVB-T2 format, in the meantime the number using only DVB-T2 is likely to increase. Not all programmes will be broadcast in HD though, many are not yet produced in HD and recordings will be in SD so will have to be transmitted as SD even though they are in an HD-capable multiplex.

MikeP: Its a shame that not all manufacturers make all their equipment with T2 tuners - the bulk of the sets you see at supermarkets (unless they are one of the four big brands) do not have them. Its relatively easy to get another box (receivers have started to appear on the market again), but its an extra cost, an extra hassle, and fairly pointless.
However, I suspect that the bulk of TV's will either have T2 tuners, or have T2 equiped boxes attached (or at least the possibility) within a couple of years, such is the churn in the market. But I would warn anyone buying a TV, etc to make sure that it is Freeview HD equiped - if its seemingly too cheap, there is normally a good reason why!

MikeP: That is very true I have seen cheap HD sets 32" around 140 pounds... NO T2 tuners only T1... i think they trying to off load these sets.... and the poor customer gets conned thinking they got a bargain.... when it is not.....

Hello I'm thinking of getting sky but only for my bedroom I only need it in my bedroom as downstairs my mum has freeview and she dosnt want sky but I just want 1 connection to my room is that ok with sky or does it have to be downstairs I dont want to call them and sound like a fool as I have depression and autism and I feel shy on the phone anyway would appricate help .

You can have Sky in any single room in the house. It can be your bedroom if that is where you want it and it will have no effect on your Mum's TV reception. You will have a dish fitted and the cable(s if you order Sky+) can normally be fed into the bedroom. If/when you contact Sky to order, tell them it is for a single room installation that happens to be a bedroom.

Hello,
I live in the AL4 9JX area of Hertfordshire. Crystal Palace is my transmitter. I have a roof aerial and a Freeview HD box.
I receive all the Freeview HD channels with no problem.
However and this is odd. Recently I retuned to pick up channel 111 and 112 just to make sure I can tune into COM 8. For a while I was getting clear pictures on QVC HD.
A few days ago these disappeared. When I tried to retune I could see there was a signal but the quality indicator didn't register anything therefore the box ignored the channels.
I can get these channels on a small set top aerial though. Both upstairs and downstairs.
When HD was first coming from London as a test at low power I received this but when Sandy Heath changed a frequency this got zapped until Crystal Palace went to full power.
I'm wondering if the same has happened to COM 8. I can receive HD from Sandy Heath on the same rooftop aerial despite it pointing south. It's like something is spoiling the COM8 signal from London but no other channels are effected. As I can receive these COM8 channels on a small aerial which won't receive Sandy Heath at the same time it made me thing maybe there was a conflict.
Anyway I thought I'd ask and report this. It's not that I ever want to watch QVC in HD but if other channels arrive on COM 8 that might be different.
To repeat, all was ok receiving COM8 until a few days ago. All other HD channels come though ok on the rooftop aerial which is in good condition and correctly pointing south with nothing in the way as I'm high up. No tress or anything which would have appeared in the last week.
I've put quite a bit of effort trying to find a pattern in the problem which I've described above. Re-boots and retunes and all those things have been done so done ask me to try that again.
