Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Rowridge (Isle Of Wight, England) mast?

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Is there a problem today 28 December? My DAB radio reception in Damerham SP6 3HQ, which has always been OK, has completely disappeared.

stephen : Things go wrong regularly, it is unreasonable to expect everything to work perfectly at all times! If things were not fixed by engineers, after a while we would have no service whatsoever, and thank yourself that in the UK, unlike here in Ireland, engineers try their best to fix problems quickly!!

Hi, I live in Chillerton (!) on the Isle of Wight. It looks like I can't receive 12B BBC national radio stations from either Rowridge or Ventnor. Does anyone know if there are plans to improve the coverage of the Isle of Wight for BBC National radio as it looks patchy at them moment.
Thanks
Tom

This morning 17/09/2019, I am having trouble listening to LBC on DAB. Around Ryde, it goes off most of the time, and you just catch the odd word.
According to this site there are no problems.
Has the coverage changed?

John Osborn:

Having searched for information about transmitter issues for the Digital One multiplex, I couldn't find any for the Ryde area. That doesn't mean there wasn't any, getting information like this from the commercial operators is not possible a lot of the time. Hopefully reception is back to normal now.

I used to receive all Freeview channels from Rowridge. When the signal strength from Findon was improved well over a year ago, half of the Freeview channels disappeared. All the aerials locally appear to point to Rowridge but we can only get Findon. Houses a cuople of miles away to the North receive Rowridge although they are nearer to Findon than I am. Is there any way to receive a signal from Rowridge so that I can get the missing channels back?

Stuart Tallack: The Findon transmitter uses completely different frequencies to Rowridge, so it is extremely unlikely that any changes at Findon are causing interference with signals from Rowridge. If you provide a full postcode then we can see what the predicted signal strength is at your location and may be able to offer further advice.

Stuart Tallack:

This is the DAB transmitter page (not that it would prevent anyone responding about Freeview) but someone called "Stuart" raised this on the Freeview transmitter page a couple of months ago, see
Rowridge (Isle Of Wight, England) Full Freeview transmitter | free and easy

There were two replies, one from StevensOnln1 and one from myself which gave a lot of information and made a few suggestions to which they did not respond. Please read that post and the replies.

Also note, there has been periodic weather related "tropospheric ducting" around again recently which may have disrupted signals. If you retuned when you had pixellated pictures (which it is advised you should NOT do) you can end up either incorrrectly tuned or the correct tuning just cleared and further retunes would be needed when signals are normal.

IF your set has an auto-retune function which it performs when it has no signal, turn it OFF if possible, as you end up with the same result in these situations. These days there is rarely any need to retune at all - the only very occasional situation is when a commercial broadcaster changes one of their channels or the multiplex it is carried on, and you will usually be prompted by an on-screen pop-up if a retune is needed.
