This transmitter has no current reported problems

The BBC and Digital UK report there are no faults or engineering work on the Maitland House (Southend-on-Sea, England) transmitter.

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

is it unreasonable to expect in car dab to work all over the southend on sea area? I've just had a new radio and antenna fitted and its very nearly useless.

I live near North Fambridge and the DAB sign is extremely poor if at all.

EDebra:

You should have no trouble receiving all the main multiplexes ie. BBC, SDL and D1 there's a main transmitter at Danbury. There's also a Local multiplex transmitted from several transmitters including Benfleet & Maitland House. You may even have fair reception from on e of the London multiplexes.
Put your postcode into the box at Postcode checker - Digital Radio UK and press return as clicking submit doesn't always work!

If you are using an external aerial there may be a problem with the installation if you are not getting those multiplexes. If you are using a portable with a telescopic aerial, try a different position for then aerial or even the radio, making sure that there aren't any thick walls between the radio and the transmitter, or no large metal objects in the way, such as fridges, freezer, cookers etc. Try on a window sill facing the general direction of the transmitters.

Hope that helps.

Good evening,
DAB has become very difficult to receive in the SS17 area. This has changed from good to bad in the past week.
Any ideas why?

Nigel Seaman:

Which stations are you having problems with?
The BBC aren't reporting any faults on their main multiplexes from Wrotham, Bluebell Hill or Benfleet or on any commercial multiplexes carrying BBC Local stations from Benfleet or Maitland House.
It's almost impossible to find fault reports for the main commercial D1 and SDL National muliplexes, for you probably coming from Bluebell Hill, Wrotham and Benfleet and maybe Danbury.
Bluebell Hill is the only transmitter that's had Planned Engineering listed for Digital TV so whether that's had any effect on DAB hasn't been listed.
