GMurray: A postcode is required to see predicted reception at your location. Without it, very little can be said.

You don't have any UHF modulators from a VCR or Sky box set to C45?

MikeP: 100%? Of what? Steve B said "Those channels that are WORKING have a signal strength of 100%"

Chris.SE: "Reporting of signal strength and quality has recently been standardised by the DTG (the UK body that lays down technical requirements and compliance for all DTT receivers). YouView have implemented this new standard as part of this update, and so the signal-strength reported by your STB may have increased, but will now be comparable with other compliant devices."

Signal strength

If you want to find out more about what they've done, it'll cost you:

"Full Membership (of the DTG) costs 12,750 per annum. Members have access to the Freeview technical specifications (the D-Book) and all outputs from DTG meetings and Working Groups including the DTG UK UHD Forum, plus a host of other supporting benefits."

Become a Member | UK Digital TV Collaboration | DTG

The D-Book continues to be the foundation of all UK DTT based platforms including Freeview Play, Freeview HD, YouView, EETV and NowTV and the UK DSAT platform, Freesat, as well as several international adaptations. The DTG continues to ensure European harmonisation wherever possible while meeting the needs of the rapidly developing and highly successful UK TV market.

D-Book | Digital Terrestrial TV Requirements for Interoperability | DTG

A bunch of money grubbing capitalist pig bastards, totally lacking in any sense of decency, stunting the free flow of information, and thereby, the advancement of humanity.

It's no wonder that someone put their precious D-Book on wikileaks.

Chris.SE: They are old and don't have the info we need, but:

March 2011
https://wikileaks.org/son….pdf

DTG D-Book part B v 1.pdf
30th September 2011

Someone should send the current versions to wikileaks.

David Warner: "I asked you if you could direct me to a website to give me the compass bearing to Crystal Palace.
Such a site existed a year ago - but not now, as far as I can see. "

If you'd read Chris.SE's reply properly, you would have found the new location of that website :

"The bearing to CP hasn't changed, it's still 152 degrees (~SSE) and the DUK/Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker got moved to different cyberspace - not too cleverly - you had to use the boxes on Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free & scroll down and selected Detailed view, but they've recently added boxes on Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free corporate/platform-management which goes straight to Detailed View. Channel 4 HD to start on Freesat | Freesat

du lich Ho May: Yes, very good information here. Quite fastidious.

I didn't know where to put this but thought this is as good a place as any.

In answer to a question nobody asked and nobody knows the answer to -

Firmware for Freesat devices is delivered by a service called FreesatSSU on the home transponder.

The manual for the 4k box says updates are checked for in standby.

An OUI - "Organizationally unique identifier" - is used to target particular devices.

OUI 00-00-C5 belongs to ARRIS Group, Inc.
OUI 00-1F-49 belongs to Manhattan TV Ltd
