Hi folks,

Wondering if people with the knowledge can shed some light.

I live in Rugby, so in theory I'm on the SC transmitter, using my old analogue aerial.

The Dave channel for me appears to drop out and come back at roughly the same times every day. Fine before about 9am, gone/really messy until about 7pm (iirc) when it comes back clear and strong.

Anybody know what this is about?

My first thought is that maybe something else on Mux C is given 'priority' during the day at the expense of Dave channel's signal strength. Of course, I'm not a pro so that's a guess :)

(My aerial hasn't been explicitly set up for digital but during the good periods it's just fine)

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Will.

Hi Briantist,

I'm at CV212QR. Some interesting thoughts on the link you sent. I wonder if something comes on during the day that interferes.

Or maybe I'm on the edge of the transmitter range and it switches between or something??

</guesswork>

:)

Cheers,
Will.

MikeP: You read the article, right?

Ofcom requires...

The law requires that Ofcom demand any TV channel that has more than 0.05% of the viewing provide subtitles. This starts with a requirement to provide 10% in the first and second years rising to 35% (two more years) 60% (another two) 70% (three more) and eventually 80%.

Martin R: There are currently no Red Button services on the COM7/8 multiplexes.

If you want London Live and it's not listed on your box and you can't do a manual tune then what other option is there?

Dre: Your Labgear LPCT Compact Log has a low front to back ratio of 17 dB.

It seems to me a high front to back ratio might be the way to reduce the interference from Crystal Palace referred to by Chris.SE.

According to its data sheet, the Vision V10-36FL Log has a front to back ratio of >34dB.

Maybe that's the way to go.

Martin R: As far as I am aware, there has never been a BBC Red Button stream on COM7/8.

I know little about youview, but does it not have Red Button+ or Connected Red Button?

Maybe that's what you had?

Take a look at BBCB:

http://www.digitalbitrate…PSB3

The Red Button stream is shown as Data (DSM-CC) 422 kbps.

On COM7 there is no Red Button stream:
