Roll on summer when we get change of weather that affect TV signals...... i mean in the old days used to get slight snow or venition blind effect like watching 405 lines on 625 colour... there's a word for it but cannot spell it..... opps.. that does affect digital in a way of blocky and squealing sound... that does my hearing aid in.... blooming hurts my ears....

I heard a rumor about UHF channels 50-60 is being sold off to mobile broadband. I found this info on UK vintage radio repair website... Of-com have already approved the sale... happening in 5 years time... whats does that mean for Oxford transmitter? does it mean moving channels to group B or A.... or is it closing down?

its only a rumor..... like to know if this is true?

I have noticed that they have turned down FM transmitting power so it's not as good as it was before.... very annoying.... i dislike DAB as its sound so compressed and not so clear on the ear.... and I am Deaf!! if i can tell its rubbish how is it for people who can hear well.....

Sounds good to me.. but what will happen to Youview?

I hope it as simple to use like Youview guide as you can scroll to the programme you want recorded or reminded that programme is on. Hopefully.. wishful thinking that the on demand programmes have a option to put up subtitles maybe BSL signing as a option like a button for subtitles and signing or just subtitles. I remember on See Hear 14 years ago talking about Digital TV will have signing as a option..... we are still waiting for it lol

I do wish the smaller TV channels show subtitles too... not all free view channels carry them. I like movies, documentaries, factual, Drama and Action... I wish CBS, and other free movie channels carry subtitles.... I know it cost money to put them up. In USA its law that all TV stations apart from Public Broadcasting Service as its run by the community

I have virgin Cable Broadband up to a 100mb... it works pretty fast when they are not messing about with the outside cable boxes...I do find annoying sometimes that it goes down for no reason... maybe they are upgrading or someone pulled the plug out.... BT in my area is woefully poor.. ok we have fiber cabinet down the bottom of the village... but the Phone lines are so old alot of them are from the late 1950's when it was owned by post office.

When will BT wake up and replace these old lines its not good enough for Broadband....

@ Eric Brightwell

Not everyone has PVR recorder.... Unless TV makers put in PVR inside the TV set then everyone be able to record free-view or free sat services.

The broadcasters are shifting over the Internet content as people can choose when they want to watch TV. I think personally it is too soon to go that way, unless BT and Virgin expands their broadband to cover all over UK then that's when it should happen.. I heard a rumor in 2020 that the channel group C/D will be sold off to mobile broad band... I think that's bad idea we have already lost a chunk of TV spectrum at it is

I Have YouView Humax box wearing B.T logo got it cheap before they released the smaller BT Youview box got it from Richer Sounds for 129. I am very happy with it works very well with my Bang & Olsen Tv that i got for 99p from Ebay.

The recording with Subtitles is very very good very reliable as my previous box kept dropping out the subtitles... they strange thing is no loss of signal or anything weird. I feel the Humax box got a decent tuner and stays locked on. The old box was a cheap Vestel brand... it does pay more for better box.

One thing I have to say... Like Now TV.... they don't provide subtitles on their movies or entertainment programmes their excuse is " not enough band width to carry subtitles" in this day and age it is not acceptable... why should the deaf community have to be sidelined yet again!

I have tried Now TV on my you-view box and my Xbox for 30 days.... i shall not be subscribing to their service until subtitles are on..
