Stephen, looking at your street on Google street view, all the aerials seem to be pointing north west, the opposite direction to the satellite dishes, which would be south east.
If they 'are' all looking at Sutton Coldfield there must be a reason for that.
Do a scan and check the RF channel numbers against the Sutton Coldfield transmitter listings.
They are 41/44/47/51/52/55 I think :)

I would leave things as they are then Stephen, you would need a wideband aerial as well, for Sandy Heath.
My son lives near you,and I can't help looking up at the TV aerial's around there trying to figure out who is looking at which transmitter :)

Geoff, are you sure your new TV can get HD,what make/model number is it,a lot of people are buying sets do not have a dvb-t2 tuner ''HD'' inside, not saying yours is,but there is a chance.

Also HD is not transmitted from Sutton,at the moment, its from a site at Hints nr Lichfield, and its low power, and the main beam is directed towards Birmingham, and not any other direction.

Freeview HD will be transmitted from Sutton Coldfield, from digital switch over,on 21/9/11 and there will be a very large transmitter power increase,at that time.

Stephen I think you would be better sticking with Sutton Coldfield, for the reason's given to you in KMJ,Derby's reply.

However you will find the bearing for Sandy Heath here, based on your postcode, enter your house number yourself.

Geoff, that's great, pleased to hear it the HD mulitplex from Lichfield is on 4KW now, when it moves to Sutton Coldfield,I understand that the power will increase to 200KW.

So I think you will be ok :) all the SD channels will also increase power, from 8KW now,to 200KW at the end of digital switchover.

Graham,I understand that the radiation pattern of the HD transmitter is to the south, for Birmingham, not north where you are.
Your aerial is looking at Sutton Coldfield, but the HD transmission is from nr Lichfield, some thirteen degrees away from where your aerial is pointing.

It would seem that you have a hi-gain antenna, this would tend to limit the capture of signal,to a very narrow area, in degrees and miss the HD signal.

I am sure it will be fine, come digital switch over, when the HD multiplex moves to Sutton Coldfield on high power.

Take a look at the enclosed,it refers to ''analogue'' reception but gives the location of the Sutton and Lichfield transmitter sites.with reference to your location, notice the thirteen degree difference.

Your HD signal is not coming from Sutton Coldfield,at the moment, its from Hints near Lichfield, and is on very low power 4KW and directional.

Come digital switch over, ref Sutton Coldfield,in September this year, the HD service will move to the Sutton transmitter, and the power will go up to 200KW.
