When passing aircraft destroy reception...as happens with me @ Liverpool L13 6QY. is this an indicator of poor signal strength?

Thank you for the advice. Particularly I will check signal strength and will check the connections. Further observation is that the low reception appears to wander between channels. Newest victim is channel 4

Once again many thanks for the practical advice and reports that indicate that there are problems we can attend to ourselves and some we can't. The vanished CH 4 problem was cured by a simple re-tune. The reason was plain enough..the frequency slot had been moved. I'm not aware that any warning had been given. If not there'll be some head scratching going on. The signal level can be checked and the results are variable day by day. On "low signal" days both my sets select Welsh channels instead of North West. One set refused to carry out a re-tune giving the reason "multiplicity of off region channels." Fortunately it didn't go blank and kept the pre re-tune status. Incidentally none of these problems were manifest until about 18 months ago. Meanwhile I'll be following Mike's forensic approach to eliminate unsatisfactory connections etc.
