I am in Worthing, BN13
I am unable to connect to Gold, Heart Sussex, Smooth Sussex, BBC sussex, or anything from sussex for the past 2 days. National station fine, Hampshire stations OK. I am told now that the transmitter run by Arqiva has failed, and engineers are still working to fix it, but no mention anywhere else about this problem!!!

I live in BN13 1DG, and had a new aerial fitted 3 months ago. I did not use the freeview service much then, but now my sky box has stopped working, I need freeview, but I cannot get any channels from the Rowridge transmitter on com 7 and com 8, i.e. BBC4 HD, BBC news HD and all the others on channels 31 and 37. I suspect the aerial is the wrong type: the receiving arms are vertical, and I note that everything on freeview is polarised in both the vertical and horizontal except the 2, com7 and com8, which appear to be horizontal only, so is the aerial the problem?
Thanks for any help.

MikeP, thanks for the info, I have spoken to the aerial fitter, and he tells me, correctly or incorrectly, I don't know, that I would not pick up the com7 and com8 services very well even if I went horizontal, but that I would reduce the quality of all the other channels if I did go horizontal, plus get more co channel interference from France. Am I being told the whole story, or should I seek help from another aerial rigger?
Thanks

Just seen the much lower radiated power for com7 & com8, 24kw and 18kw respectively, as against 200kw for the main mux, so I suspect that BBC4 HD will not be that good.

Thanks to all, I must accept no HD BBC4 on freeview, the aerial rigger was totally correct in his fitment, plus, I have now sourced a replacement sky hd box, so I now can revert to sky downstairs. I still need freeview upstairs, but not in HD yet!
