Hi Brian,

Your quote
"If you own a media outlet, you don't broadcast things to your disadvantage"

Could well be expanded to include "conflict with your political stance"

Another very good reason to stop the news international take over of sky.

They have suppressed yet another story of interest that conflicts with their agenda.

Remember "Tomorrow never dies" ? I wonder who the villian was based on !

Hi Brian,

Cant comment much on sky news but i seem to remember a clip on you tube of adam boulton having a pop at labour guy which was quite interesting. Fox news is refered to by sky news as their sister channel, at that is very far from impartial.
There was also the story that news international would blanket ban across all their media outlets any stories about any film where they had been refused a interview.

I get my news from the bbc as their are far more checks in place to ensure impartiality.

Hi all,

Another solution is used in italy to protect the gate, they block the match to any subscriber within a given diastance from ground.

Like brian i dont see this helping the situation, but it does show that the money men are in charge & the fans are just regarded as waling wallets.
I note that the usual plea that football will suffer if the income from tv reduces & I have the same thought as i did the last time they trotted that line out, even more so after the last world cup & that is football has not got better with all the big tv money in fact quite the reverse is true !

Hi all,

Last summer I took a booking from a lady who wanted a aerial directed at wenvoe as this was a fringe area job I qouted her £120-£150 depending on what she actually required (bracketry / size of aerial / or if a masthead was required) benchmarked equipment was to be used, that evening i had a abusive phone call from her husband saying our prices were outragous he cancelled the job saying he would do it himself.
This morning i received a call to change a cable on a aerial, i asked some questions but the customer refused to answer them & said just come and see what i need, so this afternoon we went there, first thing we spotted was a newish 10 element aerial (sharing with a local pointing aerial which was bigger !) a rusty old pole pointing towards wenvoe the white cable on the roof compleated the classy install. A guy on walking sticks answered the door, I proceded to explain that the cable may not be the cause of his missing channels & breaking up of the channels that he did get, & offered to either replace the cable as requested with no g'tee it would cure the problem or quote £120-£150 depending on what we had to fit, he said it was much & he would not pay that much, I replied it was a difficult dangerous job & he said i know "i fell off the roof last summer when i put it up there & shattered my pelvis" It was at this point it clicked tha this was the guy from last summer ! He said if we wouldnt do it cheaper we could go he would get someone else, I said good luck with that & left him to it.

I was thinking as i left that if he couldnt learn anything from falling off of a roof about trying to cut corners then there was very little anyone could do to help him, its not like he was broke he lived in 1/4 million pound house (which goes a long way in the valleys) & had a newish big bmw outside.

Hi Tom,

Your best best bet is Freesat, in the install menu type in a welsh postcode & you will receive bbc1 wales / bbc2 wales / itv1 wales / s4c in their primary positions on the EPG.
A basic sd freesat install can cost as little as £110 which could well be cheaper than a aerial installation in this case.

Hi Jamest,

A slingbox & slingcatcher may be your best bet, Satellite reception is not possible.

Hi Heather,

With the best will in the world, there is no g'tee that the problem is water in the cable although like brian that would be my first guess too, but without seeing the problem we can only guess.
I would not instuct a aerial guy to replace the cable as that may not be your problem. As brian said ask friends family neighbours for the name of a decent installer & call them & please dont presume that if something else is faulty they are trying to con you, for example, if the water was getting into the cable because the waterproof connection cover on the aerial is split letting water in then the aerial as well as the cable would need to be replaced. The key to sorting this problem is getting someone you can trust, dont be taken in by flashy websites, adverts or logos & badges they are no replacement for a referance from a friend family member.
