I have had decent Freeview on most channels for some time. I live in hu3 have a roof mounted wideband ariel, decent cable and signal booster/4 way splitter to distribute to other rooms in the house. After retuning on the 3rd August (full factory reset) on Panasonic tv I have experienced v poor reception on BBC channels (freezes, pixelation in bands, popping sounds etc). Also reception on some other channels seems to break up occasionally. I hoped the switchover would bring improvements in picture quality and am very disappointed. Any suggestions or advice would be gratefully appreciated

Thanks for the reply Mike, much appreciated! I had read something similar posted elsewhere but it seems rediculous that a too strong signal results in poor tv performance. The problem is that the signal booster is needed to boost the signal to a tv in a bedroom a long way away at the back of the house. Without it this tv reads no signal. Still I'm going to have to try it because it's driving me nuts only getting some channels.
Could anyone recommend a decent 4 way splitter preferably shielded? all the ones I've found seem to have satellite f connectors and I have normal co axial plugs. Can I mix them on the same wire ie co ax one end and f connector on the other? Any help or advice gratefully received!

Thanks for the advice guys. Attenuator arrived today but weirdly all channels were viewable when I turned on the tv without it. Something must have changed and it's nothing I've done this end?

Hi all, at HU3 1LA since retune on the 17th I have all BBC channels but pixelating on ch4, 5 and ITV2. Hoped it would have improved. This whole retune is proving a nightmare with lots of shows/ films not recording on wmc7. Any suggestions?
Cheers

Thanks Brian, tried a full factory reset but it seems to have made things worse. Now all channels are popping and pixelating. Signal strength is 10 but quality poor. I have tried a variable attenuator but doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference.

Retuned without the ariel, then replugged and did factory set up and now all channels seem sketchy at best and unwatchable at worst. The only channels behaving themselves are the ones with the lowest transmission. If I remove my signal booster then the reverse happens with the stronger channels working fine and the weaker ones breaking up. I also need the booster/splitter to get any signal in other rooms in the house.

Thanks JB38, what happens in November which should sort out the problem? Are they putting all channels on full power? And why the delay? Does anyone know of a 4 way splitter/booster that has individual gain control to each output to account for the tv 1 foot away and others 20 and 30 metres away?

Thanks for all your suggestions and advice! Got a passive 4 way splitter off eBay and all tv's are working well on the higher power channels. Hopefully others will return in November when they increase power on the others. Cheers!

Hi everyone, as posted above I have split my aerial passively 3 ways and receive a decent signal for the main channels on all sets hooked up. However, I was wondering whether I could get the same results from a passive 6 way split as I would like to add additional tv points. With the new stronger signals do you think this would work? Or should I not risk it?
