P Mackintosh: Firstly, this is an independent technical help website which is not connected with either Freeview, or any broadcaster or transmitter company, so nobody posting here can do anything about any transmitter fault and it is extremely unlikely that anyone from Freeview will see your message here. The BBC's reception advice pages report no faults for Knockmore and neither I nor any other volunteer contributors have access to any other information.

If you provide a full postcode we can check what signal strengths are predicted to be like at your location and may be able to offer further advice. It's worth checking for simple faults such as any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV which can make the situation worse but are easily fixed.

ted: What are you trying to get a password for? I don't think there's anything to login to on this website that requires a password.

Grant: Darvel is coming up as the only transmitter predicted to cover your postcode, so I wouldn't expect much success with Black Hill. The Group A aerial on a longer pole may well improve things, but chances are the trees will cause the same problem again in the long run. You may well be better off installing Freesat, perhaps consider having a dish installed at the same time if you go ahead with replacing your existing aerial.

SUSAN TESEI: Which channel was it shown on? If it's one that has a catchup service you may be able to watch it on there.

Forces TV
Wednesday 15 June 2022 6:16PM

BFBS, the military charity who own Forces TV, have announced that the channel will close on all platforms (not just Freeview) on 30th June 2022. The charity say they are refocusing on their core mission: to entertain, inform, connect and champion our UK armed forces, families and veterans.

RXTV have a full article at the link below (I couldn't find anything on Forces TV's own website):

Quentin: Unfortunately there are numerous mapping errors which the owner of this website hasn't been able to fix. The location on the Blunsdon DAB page appears to be correct, next to the A419.

Mark Carter: Transmitters don't vary their power output unless there is either a fault or temporarily whilst engineering work is taking place. If the problem is happening at the same times each day then a likely cause is electrical interference from something nearby, probably either something containing an electric motor or poorly screened LED lighting is also a common cause. It's also worth checking for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV and YouView box, which could be making the problem worse.

Grant: COM7 moved to UHF channel 55 as part of the 700MHz clearance, however it will be closing on 30th June when it's licence expires, so don't waste any time or effort on it. COM8 closed nearly two years ago, both were only ever intended to be temporary services.

Mark Carter: Assuming you're the same Mark Carter who posted yesterday, perhaps you missed my reply (copied below). Mendip had a warning for engineering works last week, which could still be ongoing. If you provide a full postcode we can see what your predicted signal strength should be and may be able to offer further advice.

Adrian: COM7 is closing when it's licence expires on 30th June. As David says BBC News HD is closing on Freeview (but will remain on satellite/cable/iPlayer) whilst BBC Four HD & CBeebies HD are moving to PSB3/BBCB. BFBS (the military charity who run Forces TV) have announced that their channel will close on all platforms at the end of this month (not just Freeview).
