On the D1 National multiplex (Roberts Stream 94i radio on DAB, 222.064 MHz) on Classic FM I am getting odd background noises. Sometimes it sounds like high speed skating, sometimes like a slightly delayed double speed version of the music breaking through, sometimes like a high frequency mechanical resonance or buzz with the occasional high frequency twang even at 5 of 5 bars or 90%+ signal. It doesn't occur during speech or singing. When the music is relatively quiet then there's far less chance of background noise. I got this on Friday 14th May and the next day. Similar music on BBC Radio 3 on BBC National DAB does not have this problem. Scala Radio on SDL National however has the same problem. The background sound seems to be largely in the stereo difference signal and appears on Joint Stereo radio channels and not on full stereo (e.g. Radio 3) channels. Re-scanning does not help. The problem is far less pronounced on my older Robert EcoLogic 5 DAB radio. Internet Radio just does not have these problems.

Is there anything that can be done about this?
