Thanks for the info about Gibraltar.
It's a wonder the size of it that the actually need 1 VHF (didn't think VHF was still used for television these days) and 2 UHF frequencies for GBC TV.
Likewise with Radio Gibraltar that they actually need 3 FM and one MW frequency.
What is at the very top of The Rock?
Are those TV/Radio transmitting aerials?
If not, seems like a good place to put them to me!

In some respect, Brian, I think Richard is right.
It should say Flintshire, Wales, not Flintshire, England.
The Moel-Y-Parc signals may be receivable mostly in England than Wales and the masts' location has a CH (Chester, England) Postcode but geographically the mast is in Wales.
The Postcode database should be able to differentiate if a mast has a CH postcode as to whether the mast is in England or Wales.

Just looked at the British Isles: Digital TV transmitters link and noticed under WR Wrexham it says this: Kilkeaveragh 2, Wrexham Rhos aka Wrexham-Rhos.
Kilkeaveragh is in Republic of Ireland, just like in its own link, not in Wrexham.

Well, not long to go now before Bay TV Liverpool's official launch. Just found it on my EPG on Channel 8. When the other channels on UHF 56 from WH switched on, I was getting 100% Strength/100% Quality which I am still getting and was quite surprised to be able to receive them from my area and at such high strength/quality since although the power is much lower though the beam is much narrower, to still receive 56 from here and at very slightly stronger signal strength than the other channels from WH (around 93-96% Strength). Even at my parents house at LL13 9NQ can receive quite excellent signal strength.

David Roberts: From your reply, it sounds like you think I live on the North Wales coast. I don't live along the North Wales coast. I am very inland and much further south compared to the likes of Holywell and Flint.

I think you both mean LL, not Liverpool LM. LL means Local Liverpool. LM means Local Manchester and LPR means Local Preston. So by saying 'Liverpool LM', you are saying 'Liverpool Local Manchester'.

I wish people would use punctuation and capital letters to start a sentence. Hard to tell the end of one and the start of another without full stops. For those of us with a better grasp of English grammar, I think this is what Daniel Clapham was saying though no need to mention Gold quite so many times in one sentence or post I feel: Are Freeview ever going to get more channels after the retune on 3rd of September in November and December? And are Freeview going to get UK TV Gold as it use to be as Gold as people like old programmes. We have got Drama channel which is very good and they should have Gold on Freeview so people can get Gold free as you don't need to pay for Gold as that shows blackadder and old BBC1 programmes and old ITV programmes and it would be good if they did have a Gold channel on Freeview on EPG channel number 23 or 27. From Daniel Clapham.

I've often wondered why Manchester needs to have two local multiplexes? Surely there's enough capacity on either LM or GIM for the services of one to be carried on the other and save two frequencies transmitting?
Why can't the GIM multiplex close with the services of Movies4Men +1, Heart TV, Capital TV and Fire Hit TV transferring to the LM multiplex and broadcast along with YourTV Manchester, Pop, and QVC Extra?

Could anyone explain this?
Thanks.

I once used UK Free TV to ask its users if they could name what I thought was a transmitter mast in the distance as I could see something with red aircraft warning light lit up in the distance, turned out to be just a chimney tower at a power station.

This time I would like to ask if anyone knows what the 5 transmitter masts are all used for, very close together around Newton, near Frodsham in Cheshire?
There are two off Simons Lane which on Google Streetview shows a little car parking area with the names 'Beacon Hill' and 'Sandstone Trail'. There is one on its own, East off Dobers Lane parallel with Manley Road.
There are three, North at the junction of Dobers Lane with Meeting House Lane.
I'm curious why the need for so many in such a small area? Why not just build two or three larger ones on the same land as each other?
Anyone know what purpose each mast is used for?
A friend told me once that there are radars used for Air Traffic Control for Manchester/Liverpool airports on the top of the Helsby Hill, though these masts I have written the location of aren't really in Helsby as such.

Am I correct about these?
Can anyone else give me any more details and information on these masts?
I see them to and from work so just curious about them as I'd like to take a trip up there and see them sometime.

Thanks,
Stuart.

I see that on DAB Ensembles Worldwide | Latest News & Updates , one local DAB Ensemble recently changed to a new block frequency and another will change in a few weeks, though they weren't part of the original frequency change plan.
October 23rd:
West Wiltshire from Block 12D to Block 10D.
From early December 2015:
Sussex Coast from Block 11B to Block 10B.
So any news of the frequency changes as to when they will happen as shown on the top of this page?
Manchester 11C > 10B (Originally to be moving to 10B, now said to be 12C)
London 3 11B > 10B
Liverpool 11B > 10C
Plymouth 11B > 10D
Humberside 11B > 10D
Hope someone can update me on this news.
Thanks.
