Stan:

Radio Norwich 99.9 had a fall in listening figures during 2013: According to RAJAR the number of weekly listeners (reach) fell from 52,000 to 47,000 and total listening hours fell from 341,000 to 298,000 year on year (Quarter 4 2012 to Quarter 4 2013).

Stan: the number of households with at least one DAB set is 46%, the 24% figure is DAB's share of all listening.

Sales of DAB radios have been flat since 2010, but sales of analogue radios have fallen in every year since 2010. People are not buying radios as they used to because they are built into many other devices, however the fall in overall radio sales is purely down to fewer analogue radios being purchased.

Stan: I still have the Pure DRX 701-ES tuner that I bought in 2002, it's still works fine and I have never had any problems with it.

DAB is no more complicated than a digital plasma or LED TV, and nobody is suggesting that these are prone to fail.

Don Wheeler: There is also a commercial station called Isles FM (on 103FM).

The only DAB service currently is the BBC national multiplex. The Inverness mux (which includes BBC Radio Scotland & BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal) should be extended to the Western Isles by 2016.

tim: ITV Westcountry now has two separate bulletins (one for each part of the dual region), so people in Cornwall only see news from the South West region (formerly Westward/TSW/Westcountry).

tim: At 6pm there are separate 20 minute bulletins for the West & the South West - the final 10 minutes between 6.20-6.30 is shared.

The two 20 minute bulletins have the same presenters - one of them is recorded between 5-6pm, the other is broadcast live.

This new arrangement came in recently as part of the new ITV franchise settlement.

Blaine Wilsworth: The Arrow has moved multiplexes (from London 3 to London 2), you will need to do a rescan of your radio to bring it back.

Nedbod: 5 Live Sport Extra only affects Radio 4's bit rate when it's on-air after 5pm. If 5L SX is on-air before 5pm Radio 3's bit rate is reduced and Radio 4 is unaffected.

In the forthcoming seven days 5 Live Sports Extra is on-air for three evenings after 7pm (one for cricket, two for rugby league)

Many of Radio 4's programmes (includiing news & documentaries) are produced in mono.

Watlingfen: Most of the new DAB radios now on sale in the UK will also receive DAB+ stations straight out of the box. For a few years Pure and others were locking the DAB+ part of the chip in their UK models, so these require a software upgrade to unlock them, but this policy has now ceased. The UK spec of most models now includes DAB+ so if you buy one you need to check that it's one of the newer radios (it should have a DAB+ sticker on it).

As far as I know all standard-fit DAB car radios include DAB+ so that they can be used in continental Europe.

The first DAB+ stations in the UK should be launched next year.
