Although living in Halifax,HX2 9JY/3 locality i can still receive snowy analogue reception on a separate analogue TV,old analogue VCR using a loaned larger than usual group W wideband aerial sited in my bedroom, often with/without signal amplification from the main Bilsdale transmitter but no lower powered pre-digital switched digital signals obviously.
It will be very interesting if come DSO1 in the early hours of Wednesday 12 September 2012 after BBC2 analogue is forever switched off the higher powered 100kw BBCA multiplex on frequency 26 is attained in my locality.
Bearing in mind a few miles away from my locality, western suburbs of Bradford have horizontally polarized external aerials facing Bilsdale itself.

Richard Randall.SO15 area.I would look up inversion effect as a likely culprit.

Ian C.London,SW20 9BB.What colour is the tip of the loft aerial,as if it is black it denotes a group W wideband aerial and the wrong aerial to use on all group A (red tipped) Crystal Palace transmitter, especially in a poor/marginal signal area or if from your abode to mast roughly 7 miles it is heavily built up as such.Try a set top aerial as if this produces better results then excess signal would be here a likely culprit.

As Tim from Radlett rightfully stated above inversion effect was the cause as i last night between 9pm-11.45pm was briefly receiving transmissions from BBCA mux on frequency 23 and D3+4 mux on frequency 26 both from Crystal Palace, plus BBCA mux on frequency 27 and D3+4 mux on frequency 24 both from Sandy Heath ironically enough,as well as BBCA mux on frequency 61 and D3+4 mux on frequency 54 both from Waltham, yet losing both the BBCA mux on frequency 22 and D3+4 mux from frequency 25 for a time both from Belmont (now in my 800's list) at my location.

Stephen. We cannot really help you without your full postcode preferably, and as such as you did not provide this and for what you stated i would look up inversion effect as the cause of your difficulties.
