Donal Porter: If you are indeed meaning Freeview?, then both programmes are still listed as before, insomuch Keep it country (87) being broadcast on the COM7 multiplex and with Showbiz (80) only receivable from Winter Hills GIM multiplex (Mux57 / 762.0Mhz) the signal path from same directed towards the Manchester area.

If though you are referring to satellite reception? (i.e: transponder being mentioned) then both programmes are broadcast on 11.081Ghz - (H) - 22000 - 5/6

ben: No work of an engineering nature is presently taking place at the Wenvoe transmitter site, however the tropospheric ducting maps indicate that high pressure zones are presently sweeping across many areas in the Western side of the UK and this might well be the cause of your problem, as the posting following your own from Kelly - Lancaster reports problems of a similar nature.

Nothing can really be done to help alleviate that type of problem except to wait until the situation improves, although in your particular case retuning at frequent intervals will be required to know if it has, as your action of retuning will have deleted everything stored in the tuner.

Kelly: Please refer to my reply to ben in the posting following your own, as problems you are also experiencing is most likely to be atmospheric pressure related.

eric: Belmont is located at 40 miles away on a bearing of 91 degrees. You can check the bearing of any transmitter within your reception area by clicking the blue box titled "duk - digital trade" under your posting. (5th from the left)

Kevin sweet / Et-al : Conditions in the troposphere associated with areas of high pressure is presently affecting reception in numerous areas of the UK, the Western side of the country in particular, the effect of being either a complete loss of reception or the reception of some channels and not others.

Unfortunately these conditions are forecast on the Hepburn Tropo index chart as not clearing the UK until next Thursday Nov 3rd, albeit variable conditions are expected between now and then. The main point about this being *not* to retune your equipment as all this will do is to blank out everything stored in the tuner, this then requiring a series of retunes to find out if they have returned, an action not previously required as the channels would have returned of their own accord.

Mrs spencer: Euronews is no longer broadcast on Freesat, rumoured to be for financial reasons, however, it can still be viewed on Freesat receivers if manually tuned in using the undermentioned parameters with the receiver set to operate in its non-Freesat reception mode.

Frequency - 11.464 Ghz
Polarity - H
Symbol rate - 22000
FEC - 5/6

Rita: The problem referred to is most likely caused by tropospheric conditions associated with areas of high pressure, as its presently affecting reception in numerous other areas of the UK, albeit Southern areas in particular, the effect of being either a complete loss of reception, or reception of some channels and not others.

Unfortunately nothing can be done to alleviate this problem as its a natural occurrence, the main thing to remember being *not* to retune your TV or box, as the signal will return on its own when conditions improve whereas *not* if a retune was carried out, as this action blanks out everything stored in the tuner, frequent retunes then being required to find out if reception has returned to normal.

Mark: Viewers in many Western / Southern areas have been (and still are in some cases) experiencing moderate to severe reception problems over the past week due to conditions related to atmospheric pressure, therefore its best to check the situation with someone else in your area before looking for faults in your system.

By the way, "if" you have retuned your TV since you first experienced the problem? then you will have to carry out further retunes in order to find out if the situation has returned to normal, as the action of retuning deletes everything stored in the tuners memory system.

Full technical details of Freeview

Nigel Archer: True Christmas (74) is broadcast by main stations fitted with an additional "local" multiplex, the aerial used by said multiplex designed to radiate in a highly directional pattern, and although both stations which cover your area (Belmont and Emley Moor) are equipped with local multiplexes, unfortunately you are located well outside of the coverage area of said multiplex from both stations.

R.ENTICKNAP: A terrain check of your location indicates that the signal path from the Bilsdale transmitter suffers from a sizeable (1mile in length) line of sight obstruction at a distance of roughly 4.5 miles prior to your location, signal path obstructions always having a greater effect on reception when located nearer to the receiving end of the equation, erratic reception at certain times of the year not exactly unusual in circumstances such as yours, as the signal is vulnerable to being affected by changes in the surface condition of the terrain.

As far as aerials are concerned, high gain, likewise highly directional, aerials used in situations such as yours are liable to make things worse, therefore if thinking on installing a new aerial I would advise fitting one of the Log periodic variety such as a Log36, this being future proof as far as possible frequency changes used for DTT reception.
