PAULINE: When you say that your old TV worked fine was that on "exactly" the same
system as far as the aerial is concerned? and likewise this applying to the channels you are finding difficulty in receiving?

What brand / model of LCD TV you have purchased, this to enable checking of its tuners specification.

J Beaton: It would possibly have helped if the model concerned was mentioned, but in general terms when the re-tuning process has completed on most devices you usually see a box at the bottom of the screen giving you the option to "save" or "store", this happening before any other options come on.

Maybe you could come back with the model number of the device, as I realise JVC have their own ideas about menu systems.

Danny Ivatt: I think its really BT you should have consulted rather than the aerial people, as although loft aerials can be more susceptible to picking up interference emanating from sources below where they are mounted, its not generally anything connected with a mobile phone.

I would try a test of switching everything off then pulling out each plug in turn and immediately re-inserting it, this suggested just in case its a bad earth connection on some of the coupling cables.

If this doesn't cure the problem I suspect that there could be a fault on the BT Vision box itself.

Ray Reed: An aspect of what you mention is a bit puzzling, that is when you say that these effects can be seen on two LCD sets and also on an old CRT type, which I take it might be fed from a set top box.

The area I really find puzzling is, that if a problem is cause by anything connected to the signal being received, e.g: overloading or anything else if it comes to it, the symptoms seen portrayed when trying out the same signal on different pieces of equipment are never exactly the same, as various brands cope differently when dealing with a signal problem, that is of course provided they do NOT use the same chassis.

I would be interested in knowing the result of trying out what Steve has suggested, as I suspect that overly complex reasons are possibly being thought about for whatever is responsible for your difficulties.

MM: Its always best to carry out a complete re-scan in these situations, this done by a factory reset as you have mentioned, or simply by carrying out the first scan with the aerial disconnected, this killing anything stored in the programme memory, then once done reconnect and give the box a further scan thereby loading all channels available into the memory again.

Des:If the TV is not responding to the remote it could possibly be because the remote has locked up, so try taking its batteries out, wait about 15 secs or so, then reinsert them again and check if anything has changed.

You could also try switching the TV off from the mains socket, but whether or not it returns to the screen it was on before switch off is entirely dependant on the set being used.

ian: You may be now have rectified the problem, but if not try a manual scan of Ch55 as that's the Huntshaw cross HD multiplex, Caradon Hills equivalent being on Ch22.

If however you draw a blank on receiving anything it could be because your TV is not responding to the BBC's transmission mode change where the symbol rate changed to 23000, this not being a manual scan choice on some sets albeit that it "might" come up on the SR's auto find during a complete fresh rescan.

ian: cancel what was mentioned, as I made the mistake of forgetting that its Freeview you are referring to and not Freesat, the info only applying to the latter.

John Foley: "RF in" and an aerial socket are exactly the same thing, and if its a TV you are referring to and not a monitor it must have an aerial socket.

Remember of course that the TV must be tuned on its analogue mode to pick up the modulator output on the Technomate.

Phil Taylor: You should try a manual scan on Craigkelly's Ch24, as Ch4/Ch5/ITV2/STV etc are all on the the same multiplex.(PSB2)

(The channels mentioned being on MUX Ch58 on the Haddington transmitter)
