I've read a few of the posts here on the "no signal" problem.

I started having problems quite recently where the channels start switching as I'm watching live TV. This even occurs whilst watching and recording on planner.

I have a Sky+HD 1TB box and went through the troubleshooting process on Sky's site. Eventually I spoke with 2 people on the chat line. I was advised to unscrew the connections on the box and switch back on after 3 mins. This made the problem worse as now I'm getting, "Your Sky+HD box isn't getting a signal."

I get no signal strength but am able to access services, etc. One advisor wanted me to do a full system reboot but this would wipe my planner clean which is not a good option. I pointed out this has nothing to do with the planner as the channel switching occurs on live TV also.

Can you help?

I should point out this is a multi-room box which was added 04-01-2013 and worked well until about 2 weeks ago. The weather conditions are fine now though we've had snow as many have over the past few weeks. The other boxes in the house have not had this issue.

Thanks jb. I had a good go at the connectors. What I'd been struggling with is placing them back in properly. The male wire that sticks out at the end of the cable bends easily. If you're not seeing this you'll get the "no signal" sign.

I've placed my remote outside the room to see if this resolves the switching channel issue. Will update you on this in a few days to see if it's worked.

Thanks again.

Oh, as you said, make sure the cables are replaced in the same input or you'll continue receiving the "no signal" sign.

I was told on the Sky chat line to unscrew the cables on the box and reconnect them. This added to the problem (I was having) with the channels switching involuntarily.

What you must be careful of is damaging the 2 leads which is easily done. Because I couldn't see it at the time I'd bent the copper core on at least one of the connectors. I unscrewed them again and swapped them over to see if I'd put the wrong connector in the wrong socket.

What had happened was the leads had come loose. For anyone not used to setting up these boxes it can be a bit tricky getting it right. Had you not given me that little tip earlier I would not have tried once again to correct the leads to the small connectors which then screw into the back of the box.

After doing this I switched the box on and saw a blue screen. The "Your Sky+HD box isn't getting a signal" sign had gone. What I then did was unplugged the box for approximately 3 mins then switched it back on. When the box had re-booted all was well.

*UPDATE*

Still seems OK on the box not switching channels. I'll have to leave the remote in my room at some stage to see if it was the main factor in causing the initial problem. Will update you further on this over the next couple of days.

OK, that seems to be fine now.

Get the "F" connectors sorted at the back of your box when the "Your Sky+HD box isn't getting a signal" sign appears.

Les, it would be more helpful if Sky did put the adapters on the end of the connectors. This would help the customer(s) and save time and money calling out an engineer.

Channels have stopped switching involuntarily. I guess this was to do with the "F" connectors.

Thanks all for your help.

A new problem with Sky+HD box.

Able to only watch the channel I'm recording. If I switch to another channel I get the "your Sky+HD box isn't getting a satellite signal" on every channel.

Can you help?
