This activity of hacking pay-tv services is WRONG and illegal;I wouldn't do this and illegally obtain tv services that SHOULD be paid for.

PJH a few UK stations but not all restrict their online internet audio streams online to people within the UK because of sports broadcast rights in the case of TalkSPORT BBC5L and BBC5LSE or music performing rights licensing issues.

And the same issue exists with UK TV broadcasts online because of programme broadcasting rights issues too.

Astra 2A is the next satellite to replaced by Astra 2G and it too has very similar capabilities with a tight UK only spotbeam and a wide pan-european footprint. The channels on 2A with no programme rights issues and unencrypted will probably use the pan-european footprint and that have to limit their output to the UK only will most likely use the UK only spotbeam capability.

Tony Hill: there is actually one or two locations across Europe getting these new satellites @ 28.2deg E with mixed results go to www.astra2.org and you'll find a map of where Astra 2E/Astra2F have been received.

david if you are outside the uk you cannot pay the bbc licence fee! BBC Worldwide have pay-tv channels available on satellite/some cablenets/and mmds systems for people in continental Europe and beyond for expats to subscribe to. UK TV channels intended for the united kingdom on Astra 2 are not officially intended for reception outside it. The fact that one or two locations outside the UK are getting UK national tv services across Europe at all on Astra2 with a large size dish antenna is just a happy accident if not as widespread.

Pat: With a freeview or freeview hd television you cannot connect a dish whatsoever. You need a freesat hd or generic free to air (non freesat) hd satellite receiver connected to your minidish cable and this can be connectrd via Scart or hdmi cable to your tv. Freesat hd and non freesat hd satellite receivers are better as you get clear sharp hd channels for free along with lovely crystal clear dolby digital stereo and surround sound thru a suitable dvd or bluray home cinema system connected via SPDIF or coaxial digital connections.

Ian: whether you upgrade to a bigger dish is a personal choice but a bigger dish antenna would most certainly be needed down there for UK spotbeam channels on Astra 2. The focus of the beam falls much further north than you might like.

Ian the bbc has only programme broadcast rights to the united kingdom and as such is only intended for reception and viewing in that country;any accidental overspill whether that be via satellite or dtt reception to countries close to the uk is just accidental and unintentional.

The reason certain free-to-view channels are only available on Sky card access is to protect programme rights, especially if on a European Astra 2 beam.
