The answers are Yes and Yes : seems fine when recording 1 programme (returns/stays on last-viewed channel) ; and returns to last-viewed channel if put into and out of standby when not recording. The reason I had originally thought it was always switching to Ch 998, is because every weekday I have 2 programmes recording simultaneously at 1.45 ; and most days I also have 2 programmes recording together at some point during the evening ; thus the situation that causes the problem occurs frequently in our house! However, since I can only find one other person on the internet who has complained of the same problem, I can't believe this is happening to everyone : or do most people just NOT record 2 programmes together very often??

My previous research/testing has proved useless anyway : yesterday the box was on 998 when I took it out of standby in the morning, despite only recording one thing overnight ; and again later in the day despite no recordings ; but after recording 2 sets of 2 channels together in the evening, it then correctly went back to Ch 141 where it had been left. Back to the drawing board.

No problem with the mains : when you check the relevant screen it says it has been connected for a number of days. Also, have not had any interrupted recordings. Funnily enough, it has remained on Ch 141 (BBC 1 HD) ever since I last posted, despite numerous single and double recordings.

Goodbye BBC Red Button!
Thursday 19 November 2015 10:40AM

We use 'Text' (which I assume is now counted as a Red Button service, even though I never actually touch the red button on my remote?) many times a day for accessing News, Sport and Weather. Even though this is a poor replacement for the extensive analogue-TV Ceefax services we used to have before things were 'improved', it will still be a blow to lose it.
I would prefer a large 'hike' in the licence fee and an expanding BBC : they remain the only channels worth watching most of the time. Personally I'd be happy to lose BBC national radio in its entirety, but I realise that this still has its supporters too.

Sudbury (Suffolk, England) Full Freeview transmitter

Ipswich

Hi ; Yesterday and today have had problems on the BBC Channels, both SD and HD, on Freeview from Sudbury. Every few seconds the bottom quarter of the picture 'flickers' . First noticed this on BBC1 SD last night (27th Nov) during Look East, but have just checked and same problem still occurring on BBC1 and BBC2 both SD and HD today (28th Nov). Commercial channels (ITV etc) are all functioning normally. I'm at IP2 9XY.

All working normally again by Saturday evening. Might be the telly, but strange it only happened on the BBC Channels across 2 MUXes and protocols.

Unfortunately it is only for the duration of the Olympics, and takes the place of CBBC HD : it will disappear again in a couple of weeks.

I see that Tacolneston will be switching COM8 over to channel 56 by June 2018 ; but those of us using Sudbury will still be receiving COM6 on channel 56 until December 2018 : currently there are no channel number clashes between those 2 transmitters because their coverage overlaps, so I'm wondering if I will now have 6 months of problems with anything on COM6 mux?

Paul Dicken: Frequencies changed at Sudbury earlier this year, and I can't see anything else planned, certainly not in 2020 : I am also on the Sudbury transmitter here in Ipswich. What did you think was going to change in 2020? (just in case I've missed something)
