What connections are used from set top box to TV (such as SCART

Hello,

I've looked through the previous exchanges but have not noticed one which matches my problem. I've been using without problems a Panasonic Viera digital HD ready TV, with a Virgin V+ box, and a Panasonic VHS recorder/DVD player. I wanted to be able to record programmes onto a disk rather than VHS. As I would be upgrading i decided to go for blu-ray also. I now have a Panasonic BWT700EB blu-ray/DVD recorder with 320GB hard disk. I've substituted it for the VHS and followed the same wiring arrangement. The TV works through the recorder well enough but the picture is not as sharp as through the STB, but I'm less concerned about that at the moment. I can record TV and playback from both DVD RW disk and hard disk without problem. What I can not do at present is to record programmes stored on my STB onto a DVD-RW or to the DVD hard drive, which was the main purpose in switching from VHS. Neither can I pick up the non-freeview channels on the DVD recorder - I have the full set of sky ssports, movies, etc. on my STB, so am not able to record any of those channels from TV through the STB to the recorder. My attempt at recording from an STB stored programme today functioned seemingly as normal, although the STB did not ask me for the receiving device, and nothing appeared on the DVD-RW.

My wiring is as follows: RF in from DVD to TV input on STB; RF out from DVD to TV aerial input on TV; Scartfrom AV2 on TV to AV1 (TV) on DVD; and Scart from AV2 on DVD to bottom scart socket (marked VCR) on STB.

I would be grateful for your advice please.

Geoff
