It looks like the better-than-average Black Cat may have lots its slot on this transmitter to Team Rock, but I can't see channel numbers on my receiver to confirm that.

Briantist: they might still be licensed, but http://licensing.ofcom.or….pdf makes it look like it was a temporary addition - was there a later extension?

Anyway, ultimately, they're not being found by a rescan and they're not listed on NOW Digital Ltd

Detailed comparison Freeview/Sky
Tuesday 7 May 2013 11:26AM

becky asked "surely as the freeview channels are free why are they not available on freesat?"

I think it's the extra cost of satellite broadcasting and getting onto the EPG. Some of the FSFS services (PickTV+1, for example) can be added as an "other channel" to most Freesat receivers, but they aren't on the Freesat EPG, so won't appear unless you add them.

DAB local radio gaps | Digital radio
Tuesday 7 May 2013 11:38AM

Thanks for that briantist - I've not seen that before. 83% coverage, with dead spots in all the western towns (Kings Lynn, Downham Market, Hunstanton, Swaffham) and all along the western fringe. So West Lynn 873 MW is probably going to remain popular. I guess the fear of lousing up Leicester is why they're planning to use the so-called Kings Lynn (actually Sandringham, behind a hill from the eastern part of the town) instead of the obvious current site at West Lynn.

DAB local radio gaps | Digital radio

michael : I've not seen any plan to cut the West Lynn transmitter. Online isn't cosy: the "iPlayer radio" just doesn't work on most devices, thanks to the uniquely stupid way they've tried to lock it down - compared to ILR which mostly have free mp3 streams online.

At least for the Anglia, YTV and Central areas, it seems quite similar to what the BBC already does, with newsrooms in Norwich, Cambridge, Hull, Leeds and somewhere in the East Midlands (Nottingham?)

Deal with Sky's overpriced underspec satellite receivers or BT Broadband's evil channel-hopping kit? No sport is worth that! I hope RAI Sport and Eurosport Deutschland remain free to air for many years to come!

And just like when it started, the true position of the split between Anglia East and Anglia West is a work of fiction, with the near-ideal lack of obstacles across the fens meaning almost all of the supposed "overlap" area gets Anglia West from Sandy Heath, except for the very southern bit and the northern coastal area, but they're probably getting signals from neighbouring regions unless they're near something like the misnamed King's Lynn relay (actually better placed for the Sandringham royal estate than the town).

This site's transmission maps are better than most, although I think it still overestimates the reach of Belmont and Tacolneston a bit, while being a bit pessimistic about the reach of Sandy Heath and Oxford.

At least now there's most regions on Freesat and a general acceptance that Cambridge is a key part of the Sandy Heath service area.

Hi Brian. No worries. The computations are probably why this site's maps are so much better than the official ITV fiction. I'm between King's Lynn and Downham Market and Belmont is fairly strong, Sandy Heath is possible, but Tacolneston is a dream. As you seem to suggest, it may be Thetford Forest or the Brecks to blame, as the terrain plot suggests there isn't much clearance at some points and those evergreens are rather tall! Meanwhile, it's open fenland to our west.

Nicholas Willmott: I'm another like Michael. I'm in what should be an easy area to cover, yet I only get local BBC radio clearly on MW from West Lynn. The FM transmitter at Great Massingham only offers "fringe" reception to the West of the county and even when the local DAB Mux is rolled out here, there's going to be gaps including the main towns, as the main concern seems to be "don't interfere with Leicestershire" rather than "cover West Norfolk"!

I expect we'll be part of the 2% not covered at switchover, same as we have patchy TV and FM coverage too. Less than 100 miles from London, but a big broadcast notspot. Quite a lot of satellite dishes around here!
