I have added a Humax player that gives me catch up TV and Freesat can I add a Freeview box to get the extra channels

Here is an interesting problem. I have a mani TV with Sky in my lounge an extra TV in the kitchen with a cable from sattelite dish I have a small old Hitachi freeview box all working fine. I bought a new up to date freeview box Made by a company called SLX now when I connect this box up I get the dreaded no signal message come up. Tried playing around with it no joy. Put old box back no problem. WHY??
