Does anyone in Southampton use Freeview HD? BBC One HD is on Freeview 101 and BBC Two HD is on Freeview 102 but I'm not picking them up. I've tried retuning our TV (which is "fully HD") using 'autoscan channels' in the settings menu, but it's not downloading any of the Freeview HD channels. According to the Freeview website, the HD channels *should* be available in my postcode. I phoned the Freeview helpline last week and they said there is currently engineering work going on at our local area's transmitter - Rowridge (Isle of Wight). That *could* be the problem. However, I've tried retuning the TV several times in the past couple of months and have *never* been able to access the HD channels. Does my antenna orientation need to be altered to pick up HD? Perhaps it needs switching from horizontal to vertical polarisation (or vice versa?). If so, can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive local TV engineer, please?

Thank you, jb38.

It's an LED TV made by LG

Model number: 32LN5400

A phone call to the LG helpline had already confirmed it is "fully HD" and should be able to receive Freeview HD channels.

Best wishes, David

Hi Kieran,

Thanks for responding and kindly offering to look up the model. Actually, we've already done just that on another thread related to the local transmitter on the Isle of Wight:

Rowridge (Isle Of Wight, England) transmitter | ukfree.tv - 11 years of independent, free digital TV advice

So you're right - the model doesn't have the tuner required to receive Freeview HD. Ah well, never mind! Might think about a Freeview HD box.

Thanks again.

Best wishes, David (SO146TT)

Thanks MikeB - good suggestion about using an HD equipped recorder. As you say, the LG TV is itself fine. Hadn't really thought in advance about Freeview HD but will be "fully" aware next time I replace our TV. :)

Thanks again everyone.
