Brian - Don't know whether this is as a result of the UK's financial situation "Freeview" reception issues package price increases with SKY and Virgin, but I am inandated with folks seeking to move to "Freesat". Just wondered if this is a local trend that I am experiencing or someething more general.- Perhaps others may wish to chip in om this one.

Keith - You can't have the functionality without setting up a SKY subsciption package.

Keith - I am assuming you have a SKY paackage in place and am wonderng why you would want to buy as SKY will upgrade you. This would mean which ever package you have would be increased by £10.00 per month. If your not on a SKY package and you want to buy without a subcripion package then you might want to consider a Freesat subsciption free HD Plus receiver?

P.S Keith - Whichever choice you go for it's a straight swop over of receiver. If it's SKY your going with however you will need to contact them if you intend making use of the recording play/pause facility of a SKY plus HD box.

Roy - I am in Dumfries & Galloway with similar issues as were reliant on relay transmitters. I have "Freesat". This seems to be the way to go and certainly around me local installers seem to be advising this option where there are known issues/channel limitations with Freeview.

Roy -
P>S My nearest Relay transmitter is Barskeoch Hill at Dalbeattie North West almost straight across the Solway from Whitehaven.

Roy - You could either have your main TV with a "Freesat" HD DTR receiver which will have an onboard Hard Drive - will Record two channels while watching another with pause play etc. and your other TV's linked with an RF modulator switching box. Or alternatively another two either standard or high definition Freesat receivers without the record facility for each of the other TV's. You can obtain your receiver(s) on the high street from the likes of Comet Curry's PC World John Lewis and Online.
If going for the one DTR HD receiver and Modulator then I would suggest getting your receiver and having a local installer supply the modulator and intall when setting up the dish. If you are thinking of the option of a second and third receiver standard or HD rather than a modulator a local installer can set these up when installing the dish. A dish installation is around £85.00 but allow for any additional feeds to other receivers or an RF modulator. A decent RF modulator will be around £60 - £70. If you went for Two Standard Freesat boxes instead of the Modulator it would be about the same. Might also be worth asking a local installer for a quote for a complete job. There's several choices when coming to receivers certainly for your main one the best seller would be the Humax DTR.

Roy - If your intent on getting advice from a local supplier and it's not susceptible to vanadalising ask him if it's possible for a ground installation for your disk - much easier to maintain. As long as there is a clear line of sight to the Astra2/Eurobird1 satellite cluster then it's perfectly possible to do this.
