Ken - Yes you can paint your dish either with a spray or brush paint. There's no specific type but I would go for a powdercoating finish. Clear perspex dishes are avilable also if you require something more asthetic.

Andrew Smith - Just a general comment - Satellite dish installations are bot neccesarly a "No No" in conservation areas. If a dish can be sited unobtrusively (They don't always require installation to buildings or chomney stacks) but can possibly be placed at ground level. Dish reflectors can also be supplied in clear plastc see through material. I thought I would point this out, but not suggesting you should change your existing installation or the advice given by JB38.

JB38 - Freda Coulter - The issue may well be inspite of Mortohall being at the top of Liberton Brae in Edinburgh Arthur's Seat one of Edinburgh's Volcanic Plugs may well be the culprit in terms of iffy reception. It used to be a problem more akin to the Duddingston Village area pre digital switch over and other pockets nearby.

Brian - I see that "What Satellite" Magazine it to be closed. That's a pity as it really is the only publication giving comprehensive reviews on coming developments and pending or newly released receivers, equipment and accessories across the trade. This isn't to mention industry developments and relevant articles of interest published. Perhaps the title may be sold on to another publishing house.

Harvard Group loses "Grundig" Brand to Manhattan. Rumoured that Manhattan ready to launch HD Freesat receiver come September with an HDR to follow. Pity that "Freesat" didn't bring in some of these manufacturers/distributors with "Pedigree" in satellite receivers prior to launch.

Brian - Interesting to know who still retains the "Grundig" mark? It was aborbed into the Dutch, Philips Group years back. Philips had Parabolic satellite dish equipment sourced from Norway's manufacturer "Fibo" and these were branded both as Philips and Grundig.

Brian - When "Grundig" went into administration it was taken on for a short time by Dutch group Philips who subsequently disposed of their acquisition to joint owners Beko SA of Turkey and Alba Group UK I believe that Alba/Harvard then subsequently disposed of their holding to Beko but with conditional branding rights. I don't know what this entailed but obviously this seems to have terminated - reason unknown by me.

CBeebies

Cbeebies is transmitted on Hotbird at 13degrees East. Requires Viacess and or Conax decryption. You may be able to pick this up with a dish aligned to this satellite.
